93: I think you are exaggerating. Many posters here explicitly express personal opinions (particularly on favorite series etc.). I don’t know what’s so narrow-minded about stating what one’s favorite is. There may be some to which your description applies, but overall you paint too grim a picture of Trek fans.

You guys have brought up several excellent points. Trekmovie.com is a very entertaining website. The best Star Trek related website on the net. Star Trek .com is a joke. What makes this site great besides Anthonys awesome news reporting and his sense of what we like to read about are all the posts all of you guys make. It amazes me most of the time how PETTY and close minded, self obsessed so many fans seem to be based on their posts mostly negative against anything other than their Narrow Views on what they like or love. Everybody else is wrong, all the series except one are crap anybody who likes Berman is crazy blah blah….so even if the fat comment was meant as a joke, it is nice to see people trying to respond to it positively and accepting and caring. Thanks, maybe there is some hope for us trek fans after all! haha!

Oh I loved the comment about the other tv shows on at the time….Maybe we should get Okuda to start to redo the effex on Lost in Space so it could find a whole new audience….what?? Carrot Aliens??? Dr Smith? Zorro as the Captain/dad head of family? Hmmm ok well maybe the stories would NOT hold up as well as Star Trek……Land of the Giants! Fitsu the Dr. Smith Clone! heehhe Actually I like Irwin Allen and as a kid enjoyed most of those shows. At least they were more exciting to kids than many other shows of the time. But yeh I got a dvd of Lost in Space…Its so bad I cant even watch it now…The memories as a kid watching were better…but even then I knew Star Trek was the Best show….and it still is. And ironically the remastered version is on every sat afternoon on the same channel it was on back in syndication days….and its ratings are better than ever…imagine that!

Well sorry, this one hasn’t lost faith.
Schedules change…. so? It was explained and it’s not a big secret conspiracy as to why.
We’ve heard from a few sources (via trekmovie) that the movie looks good and the only people that are saying it’s bad… haven’t seen it.

Well, one looses faith when the movie is pushed back 5 months, though they had a trailer and other advertising materials with 12/25. also, since everyone is saying how great of a movie this is going to be it had better be a great movie and if things were screwed up we would not be hearing about them…

didnt Khan say ‘there has been technological advances but how little man has changed’. agree with your Dr McCoy quote too. its a miracle these people ever got out of the 20th century.

im heartened by those here who have taken the time to support me on this subject. Its a nonsense to sugest that only ‘fit’ people can possible fulfill the role.

we have a long way to go before we can get to Gene’s world of humanity.

Of course not. But if there were problems, as Anthony is fond of pointing out, there would likely have been indicators of that as is most often the case.

“Trek was originally going to be one of the only movies coming out in May, how do you feel about the competition?”

I can’t speak for JJ Abrams, but I don’t see any competition which would interfere with the film’s potential at the box office. STXI should rule the box office for at least a week, and in the Summer movie mix—that’s all it takes to be a big hit.

- As a die hard trek fan , i can’t wait to see the new movie…i personally expect to see a modern sci-fi movie combined with the well known trek elements..
I don’t see the reason which makes some fans to split the trek universe in so many parts…such as modern era and classic era…
