It's fixed now - it's weird, I think it went offline while I was editing it. I took a call, forgot about it, then got a message from another YouTube user saying it wasn't working, and indeed it wasn't when I checked. I went back and finished my edit, hit save, and now it works... oops! :¬)

Hard to tell how big the crowd was, Jim. I mean, there had to be at least 500 people, but probably less than 1000... I'm really not good at guessing those kinds of things ;) If you're familiar with the venue (it seems like you are), the entire area in front of the entrance was packed full from the Monorail entrance to the opposite side, and the crowd spilled back thru the slots and around the Spacequest Bar (I was on the steps of the bar).

I'm not too sure on Vegas officials in attendance, but Garret Wang & Chase Masterson were around, as well as Suzie Plakson of course. Somebody was saying Marina Sirtis was there also, but I didn't see her myself.

I'll try get some more footage up soon. There should be a ton popping up on YouTube in the next few days, there were a LOT of video cameras there. ;¬)

i made my last respects and paid my dues in late july. I actually had one of the best experiences of my entire life there. I said goodbye to the only woman I ever really loved there. I'll never forget the amazing experience I had. I'm very, very sad.

Thanx for the video post. It made me cry to see April cry. She deserves the recognition....She is the premiere member of the experience. So how many were in the crowd for the decom? Doesnt look like a very big crowd. i thought Vegas officials, etc were gonna be there....or was it just because the video was being shot very close? Its an excellent video. Man that hurt to watch that curtain close....How much more it must hurt for all those working there. ..

Hey Kreg is that part 1 just audio? Or video too it looks like its just audio?

I hope Gerry checks in to tell us in detail what went on last nite. That was a great video! Hope there is more out there....
Farewell Star Trek The Experience....I will remember it all always....at least we had the glistening jewel of an entertainment experience for a decade plus....I hope this is not the end....ALL GOOD THINGS....and Star Trek the experience and Quarks were all good things! ALL THE TIME! This world can never have too many of them!

Here is some video from last night's ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThaDeqCpbk&fmt=18

It was a rather emotional event - first time I had seen a vulcan cry! Farewell, Star Trek Experience.

So very sad to see it go - the main reason for visiting Vegas has just been taken away for me. I was lucky enough to visit from the UK 3 times - last time was February 08. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the atmosphere, the rides, the people and the cast of characters who made it all so special. If anyone did the backstage tour (I still have my certficates!) what will happen to the memory book that we all signed at the end of the tour? After all those signatures and memories I hope its not just going to be thrown away. Chris who conducted my last backstage tour was so passionate about the whole ST ethos. The thought of the awesome huge ships on display being destroyed is just too much to bear as it is. Huge thanks to everyone at STTE for making it such a special place to visit - you'll all be missed. And here's hoping for a new ST Mecca sometime really soon. I just can't believe its all going, simply because a couple of companies, no matter how influential, couldn't sit down and agree a way forward to keep it going! And as for a Michael Jackson theatre? If it's true that's just misguided. PAH! Barry Manilow will be delighted I'm sure!

I wouldn't ordinarily go to Vegas, but I've been wanting to go to the Star Trek Experience for ten years. So two weeks ago a buddy of mine and I got cheap cheap tickets and flew out there for just a day. I have to say, if you missed the "Klingon Encounter," you missed the star trek experience of a lifetime. Even though I'm such a Star Trek geek that I could tell every single little error in their reproduction, by the time they had us on the Bridge I was screaming on the inside "the Klingons are attacking; we need to raise the shields; I know where the button is; let me press it!" I really felt like I was there. They could have made the "grand corridor" and the simulator boarding a bit more like the real shuttle bay, but over-all I give the show a great big A+. And oh, my gosh, the transporter was awesome! ;-)
