Well, I was there at DragonCon for the "Blood and Fire" screening. First, it started over an hour late due to the TrekTrak bunglers of DragonCon not being prepared with their DVD projector. The room was hot as hell, too. The bunglers had overhead "heat" lamps going the whole hour while waiting (there were low light/head side lamps on the walls that would have lit the room sufficiently without the heat lamps, but the TrekTrak personnel were terribly disorganized). It was a miserable experience. A panel was evidently thrown together while waiting on the projector, including Cawley (and other New Voyagers personnel), Koenig, and Takei. It was dead quiet in the room when Koenig started yelling like a lunatic----at least it appeared that way to the audience. Only the peeps on the front row or on the panel saw what was really going on--that Koenig was properly upset with a rude TrekTrak person talking over them. Still, it came off as a lunatic rant to everyone in the audience. Over an hour later, the projector showed up and "Blood and Fire" was screened, which was quite good even if in a rough draft form.

Cawley's right, I was there, and I'm sorry I didn't get an opportunity to speak with you, James, during D*C... and BBM, Michael Dorn on my favorite soap GENERAL HOSPITAL?? Tim Russ was, yes, but Dorn, no - you must be thinking of Richard Gant, who until recently was Dr. Ford. Gant was also the boss in the short-lived series SPECIAL UNIT 2.

I have met Walter Koenig as a fan in an autograph queue at a con. I told him I had studied Russian, and we then spent two minutes speaking Russian. He was a great guy: Polite, and patient.

#23 - I agree completely! Star Trek The Experience made LV Hilton the epicenter of Trekdom. Taking that out makes the convention somehow less.... Shat and Nimoy regardless.

I've only been to The Experience once. And I've only been to the Vegas convention once.

I'll probably not go back to the Vegas Hilton again. The Trek convention maybe. But I'm with krikzil. Way too depressing to see that space either being not used, filled with something different, or occupied by Michael Jackson's Neverland sleepover. The Hilton 'aint no great shakes when it comes to places on the strip. If they moved it anywhere else, I'd be tempted to go down there and attend.

I understand that there is a contract between the hotel and Creation, but wouldn't the removal of a Star Trek attraction and the subsequent drop in attendance (which there will be, count on it) constitute some form of breach of contract? It would be worth looking in to if I were a convention organizer.

#20 thomoz -- I actually meant to take the "pretty twisted" part out; I actually wrote the paragraph before I started listening to the actual interview, and described it based on what io9 said. My mistake.

#18 subatoi -- I'm not sure if you were talking about Thompson's actual blog or my reporting of it or both. I just want to make it clear that I was in no way agreeing (or disagreeing) with what CHUD/Bruan Thompson was saying about Koenig. I merely reported on what he said. I have never personally met Mr. Koenig, but I hear from people who have met him (even those who don't like Trek) that he is a swell guy. So, I'm going on the assumption that he's not the "dick" Thompson made him out to be. :)

"Adding to the confusion is a pretty twisted 43-minute interview Spiner did at The Bat Segundo Show"

Pretty twisted? Sounds to me like a serious music person talking about material licensing, production and promotion of his new cd. I absolutely love this interview. If more musicians did more interviews like this one - very detailed - they might not have to worry about people stealing their tunes with file-sharing.

Brent takes his music career seriously. His personality may lend itself more to this kind of thing - theatre and "audio-theatre" than mainstream movies, simple as that.

I admit I like his records more than i liked his contributions to 'Nemesis'.
"B-4" was a mistake, I'm sorry to say. It cut all the drama out of his death.
