JJ Abrams is a master of viral marketing….and a master of surprises storyline twists.

That’s all I’m going to say, other than once again state I won’t be surprised at all if Shatner really is in the film, and this is all an ELABORATE and (now thanks to the changed release date) DRAWN OUT HOAX by JJ and Mr. Shatner et al.

I don’t think it’s up to you to detemine what the definition of a Trek fan is or what they should do or what they are to think.

I vaguely remember that interview — the one with Craig Ferguson (is that his name?). Wasn’t that in late (Nov/Dec) of 2006? They were talking about his meetings with the writers and the problem of Kirk being dead but it was interesting that Shatner clearly expected to hear further from JJ & Crew. I think he said something along the lines of waiting to see what they come up with. Seemed like Ferguson had a clue about Trek which was nice.

I would love Bill to watch his own appearance on The Late Late Show where he scoffed at the concept of ‘but it’s SciFi!’ as a way to resurrect his character. Of course, that was before he knew he wasn’t in it! ;)

I can’t help but wonder if there are actors in this film that won’t be acknowledged by anyone associated with the project until it is officially released. It would not be the first time moviegoers were treated to a top secret twist or surprise character making an appearance in a blockbuster film. If such a plan was in the works than those actors would have to deny their involvement or risk ruining the surprise.

i’ll miss Kirk, the original and genuine, in ST XI… who knows? Perhaps in ST XII they bring back Kirk…. or even in Star Trek: New Voyages…. i believe ST XI shall ended up with all his racket organized around his Majesty the King Cawley:-P

As yes, but WHEN did this occur? Back in the original pitches in 2006? Shatner has repeatedly said he never heard from JJ again after them.
