Overall. Fringe is good TV series. It reminds me a little bit to Torchwood and X Files. I hope that it will not be spoiled over time.

Did someone else noticed clear reference to the ROSWELL theme, end of 90s tv series, the diner, odd eating habits i.e lots of pepper and tabasco sauce, waitresses!! and then they find something that looks completely like stones in Roswell, just bigger, plus olivia goes to the town called Rosevile. cant be a coincidence!! why nobody noticed it? couldnt find any references on the internet.

im not buying the show at all, so unbelievable

Me too. They definitely set the bar, although some of the other cable networks are now putting out some good stuff.

I also like that Dr Who spin off on BBC America — Torchwood. But then I like a lot of British television. Fawlty Towers remains one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen thanks to John Cleese.

And Braga, like all Ron Moore and all the other former Trek show-runners, most likely wants to focus on something he can call his own and not come back to Trek where he’d stayed for almost 20 years. Braga is no longer well liked among Trek fans and I’d think he’d be reluctant to return in any capacity. His and Berman’s much-touted “valentine to the fans”, the series finale of ENT, is so widely disliked that even the editors of the Trek novels have chosen to undo what it accomplished.

‘Course money talks in Hollywood and network executives are some of the most obtuse people on the planet. It would’nt surprise me entirely to find out Braga had been approached but I don’t see him wanting the job. It’s also ‘way too early, imo, for CBS to be wanting a new Trek show. Oversaturation is what turned viewers off in the first place and it hasn’t even been five years since a Trek show was on TV.

I have no doubt Trek will return to television eventually but I think it may be at least a couple more years before that happens. If Braga was *somehow* given the reigns again we might see another famous Trek letter-writing compaign but this time in protest to the network’s choice.

“Rumor is that if the new Star Trek movie is successful, that higher ups have already gotten in contact with Brannon Bragga and other writers to help come up with an ew Star Trek show–although if the show will take place in the continuity of the new movie or whether it will explore a totally new star trek concept are not yet known at this time. Stay tuned……”

Don’t think there’s any truth to this. Braga has his hands full developing some new show presently (as was covered on this site recently).

I always meant to, but somehow never got around to it. The premise was somewhat appealing (in a sick way). I’ll have to check it out on DVD so I can see it from the beginning, unless I can TiVo one of those marathons that start from the very beginning. I hate mising the first episodes…I’m just weird like that, I guess.

I forgot about ‘Deadwood’! That was pretty good too. I’ve got ‘Generation Kill’ on TiVo, but I hesitate with it for personal reasons…I might need a little more time on that, although I’m sure it’s good. There isn’t very much out of HBO Films I don’t like.

#76—’Dexter’ is one I haven’t seen, but I love ‘The Tudors’, and although it’s more my wife’s thing, ‘Weeds’ is pretty funny.

Try to catch Dexter if you can. It is very twisted but somehow works….a sympathic serial killer! Loved The Tudors. I haven’t caught Weeds.

“I love ‘Entourage’, ‘Sopranos’ was probably my all time favorite drama, ‘Band Of Brothers’ was great, I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Rome’ and ‘John Adams’, ‘True Blood’ is growing on me, and I haven’t even gotten around to ‘Generation Kill’ yet. Their original films are nothing to scoff at either. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.”

Rome and John Adams were great. I haven’t made up my mind about True Blood yet. Generation Kill was interesting. I liked Deadwood too and was so sorry they ended it.

‘Showtime’ has come a long way, baby….(since the days of ‘Red Shoe Diaries’ being their staple series).

‘HBO’ is still the big kid on the block, though.

Thanksgiving perhaps? Oh let the games begin….

As for Fringe, I watched the first 3 episodes and it really didn’t do much for me. I’m not a big tv viewer but I do gravitate to the genre shows — I have never watched one hour of reality tv and never ever will. I didn’t watch X-Files so I can’t judge whether it’s similar or not. I do watch LOST and Heroes, liked many of the HBO series and really like Dexter on Showtime. It’s sick and twisted but done so well. Loved Farscape.
