I’m curious who they base some of the unseen characters on… Like Christine Vale. The picture housed in my mind’s is hazy, but I can see a beautiful, sensual, yet respect-commanding woman in line with the other great (and hot) female characters… I cannot believe one place mentions Jorja Fox or Katee Sackhoff as the model. (Ugh!!) I am only on book I right now, so I didn’t read the above, so far I already adore and love it! Book II is also in my possession for a quick follow-up… Then onto III when it comes out! I hope the quality continues through all three!

My biggest gripe with 1980s-2000s TV Treks was the reset button. Creating killer scenarios, then erasing them to return to the status quo always struck me as horribly unambitious TV!

JUSTCORBLY, Thanks. I might have to pick up the series of books. I like that the author doesn’t like the “reset button”. I think Trek missed alot of opportunities by using the reset button too much.

Look what happened when they didn’t reset a story like “Yesterday’s Enterprise” and Tasha’s daughter was created even thou she was poorly used.

Urgh. I’m constantly reminded of how much I hate reading about Titan. It’s like the U.S.S. Singapore Zoo, the way they have a representative of almost EVERY species in their crew.

Still, David Mack’s writing is impressive. Any word on whether they’re going to publish all three books into one collection?

One question: Hernandez mentions that she was a prisoner for eight hundred years and I’m assuming Riker is in the late 24th century. Didn’t the series Enterprise occur in the 22nd century?

So it would be 200 years not 800 years, unless there is some time travel games going on, guess I’ll have to buy the book to find out!

It was novelised versions of the original series episodes that gave me my first true taste of trek.
