I saw the show Thursday it was great. I loved the way they pimped out the Enterprise. With the current cast they could do a new weekly series I hope they continue with some more movies first.

I will say that when this latest Spock isn't looking like an orangatan on steroids, he imitates the older Spock's mannerisms quite well....especially when he is materializing on a planet. He has the hunched over inquisitiveness down pat.

Kudos for THAT scene in the trailer at least.

I must admit I am a little annoyed by the trailer although I will certainly go to see the movie and risk being let down further. I could be pleasantly surprised.

But I don't have quite the good feeling about it as I did when James Bond was redone. The trailer for the new James Bond movies caught my interest simply because they weren't overhyped and Daniel Craig did a brilliant job bringing a new dimension to the Bond franchise.

This trailer for Star Trek is getting packed with the classic cliches of a low budget action movie...lots of explosions and sexy interludes...too sexy for Trek if you ask me. I was a little annoyed by the quick glimpse of desperate passion between Kirk and some woman (perhaps his first wife?)

This overplayed sex scene comes across as a little condescending...as if the producers from the Transporter movies are letting us know that they have hijacked the Trek movie, plan to have some fun with it and then leave it a wrecked franchise in their wake...kind of like the stereotypical beefcake guy kicks over a scrawny guy's sand castle.

It really does feel like Trek meets The Transporter if you ask me....which isn't an encouraging sign. The Transporter movies are a whole different genre altogether and you EXPECT cliches and wildly stupid stunts.

Trek had bizarre fight scenes...yes...but the characters and the stories made the series successful.

I really hope that Abrams will put out a more encouraging trailer in the coming months, because this latest one has me a little concerned that style is being favored over substance.

I have a massive smile on my face after watching the new trek trailer. Its like WOW! i was quite skeptical about this whole re-boot thing but it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when i saw the new spock, they have hit the nail on the head with the castingof spock and for me SPOCK WAS AND IS TREK, bones was number two and kirk third, i just wish they had managed to get matt damon for kirk and halle berry for uhura! After reading the posts here i felt a bit disheartened to read all this nonsense about the shape of the nacelles and the redesigned enterprise and colur of eyes and for gods sake stick shift!!? Come on guys did you really expect the original enterprise in all its glory? on widescreen? the wide square corridors? Common sense must dictate that if the original series creators had the money that the new movie is having thrown at it it, the old enterpise would have looked totally different as would the corridors and interior etc etc you should just be glad that a new trek is on its way to a big screen near you instead of moaning and griping about crap that really doesnt matter. the trailer looks awesome and my hopes are really built up now, ive been a fan of trek since i was 7 or 8 (42 now), i remember hiding behind the sofa when kirk met the horta, being moved by the city on the edge of forever by spocks 'he knows doctor...he knows..' (favourite episode ever) intrigued by the balance of terror, can carry on and on and clearly say that its never been about the look its always been about the characters and the emotions and the adventure, sure i love the old enterpise ncc1701, but i also love the subsequent 1701a, b, c, d, e and however many more incarnations there will be but my favourite will always be the refitted constitution class, the totally new enterprsie, it took my breath away in TMP, such beautiful angles...i loved the uniforms from TMP and hated them in subsequent movies but hey it was the stosries that were important the interaction between the characters those magic moments ya know....'i have been and always shall be....' 'jim you proceed from a false assumption...i am a vulcan...i have no ego to bruise' 'up yer shaft' 'this isnt reality...this is fantasy' 'my pain is who i am' 'i apologise for some of what i said earlier mr worf...you are the bravest man i have ever known' what a moment! its like the way your heart aches after the end of the episode with datas daughter 'dies' or laughs when she picks riker up, kisses him and puts him down! or when the romulan defector commits suicide and finding out his efforts where all in vain 'are u sure u wont change your mind?...is there soemthing wrong with the one i have?' 'one damn minute admiral' its not easy to make a movie guys...give abrahms a break just be glad that we have a very good well respected director instead of some homeless guy they found on the sidewalk who doesnt know dip about movies like they are doing with the alien vs predator movies or the bond movies, when are they gonna realise that music palyed a huge part in the great bond movies, when will they get there heads out of there u know whats and bring back john barry, i nearly walked out of QOS it was sooo rubbish, poor photography, rubbish music, lets just hope that they get someone decent to do the music for trek now that Jerry Goldsmiths gone, what a genius that guy was....hope you manage to read this JJ.! MUSIC!!! VERY IMPORTANT, what MIGHT have redeemed the thunderbirds movie? ORIGINAL MUSIC! the music to the new trailer was fantastic.......the trailer was fantastic....the film looks FANTASTIC! remember the trailer...'for one quarter of a century they have thrilled us with their adventures...amazed us with their discoveries....and inspired us with their courage...their ship has journeyed beyond imagination....we have travlled beside them fromone corner of the galaxy to the other...theyve been our guides..our protectors and our friends' well heres to the next quarter of a century of trek movies.....treks truly going to be with me from childhood to the grave, it has been my guide and my friend, ive laughed and wept with these characters and hope to do so with the new guys as well, yes its difficult to see anyone else doing bones or spock and kirk but bond fans can deal with it and so must we....think ive ranted on for long enough....wether its good or bad i'll go see it.....if its good i'll be filled with joy and go see it again and again if its bad i'll weep tears of sadness and still go see it again and again ....im sure we've all thought we could make the best trek ever, for me the best books i ever read were the final reflection, the entropy effect, my enemy my ally and of course the prometheous whtachamacallits, ive often wondered why they were never made into movies and the reasons simple....its hard to please all of the people all of the time....one mans meat is another mans poison.Long live trek in whatever shape i can get it it! YES WE CAN!

Paramount clearly taking a leaf out of Universal's book and reimagining a classic sci-fi - the new Battlestar Galactica absolutely rocks and smashes the original, a must see for anyone remotely interested in sci-fi.

But I can't help but feel that they've cast a little young just to get the youth audience and make $$$. At least with BSG you have Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell giving balance to the youth - and the young cast are top notch.

I can't imagine anything more ridiculous than a teenage 'Captain' Kirk and a teenage Spock taking command of a starship - can you? What happened to these tough manly heroes of old? Like John Connor in T3 - they look like wimps.

All of you who are freaking out about the design of the Enterprise, uniform insignia, Uhura taking her top off, a sex scene, oh my and most hilariously the Vette....get over it!!

This is supposed to be a re-boot! A re-boot! If you want to see some bad acting (you know I'm right) and blue people go watch the original series.

Classics are classics. They are the first and the ground breaking. Do you want them re-done? Do you want just another episode of Star Trek? If you do my advice is to go do just that and watch the original series.

Be excited there is a popular, sought-after director and producer willing to take what was seriously a dying franchise and invest so much in it. Be excited we are not waiting 20 years after the last ST movie to get to see it again. If this does not do it for you then DONT GO SEE IT, PLEASE. You dont deserve to.

And good grief grow up. Do you think Uhura takes sonic showers with her go-go boots and skirts on? How do you know shes not about to shower after a tenis lesson? Did Kirk just take all those green ladies back to his place for a nightcap and handshake? Do you think there is no way a Vette cannot survive 200 or 400 or even 600 years to the future? Can one not be built? Who cares it was a really cool scene!!

Lastly, if you really want a piece of which is obviously plastic flying in front of some black construction paper with Christmas lights.....

Grow up.

Rock on new Star Trek. It's gonna be awesome.

But, if it tanks, well, it tanks.

You boys can go watch Shatner take his shirt off in an old episde.
