Human blood is both blue & red, depending on oxygen content (artery vs vein) etc

Vulcan blood probably just is green when it hits the air...

No one talks about the lack of support for Star Trek from Paramount Spain?

C'Mon! You only had to visit the official video and DVD site for Star Trek in Spain to realize that (http://www.startrek.es) Yes! There still says that "Star Trek XI announced for 2008".

The DVD distribution is ridiculous! We are yet waiting for the fourth seasson of Enterprise. And the Star Trek product manager of Paramount Spain says that there is no fourth seasson of Enterprise! ALTOUGH IT HAS BEEN BROADCASTED BY SCI FI CHANNEL!

The price is another point. For instance, the SAME pack of Star Trek TNG costs 54.95 Euros in Spain, 39.95 Euros in Germany, and 40 Euros in UK.

And the translation is really awful. There are many examples. One of the most recent was with the silicon-based virus of the Enterprise episode "Observer Effect" (4x11). In Spain the episode was about a "silicone-based virus". The silicon-silicone mistake seems to be usual in spanish sci-fi translations. At least with the Star Trek ones.

And this is not the only translation failure. Warp factor is refered as "factor", "hyperspace", "curvature", "deformation", and so on; The USS Enterprise was called "the northamerican ship Enterprise" in Star Trek IV; In Star Trek IX: Insurrection some dubbers used "metaphysic radiation" instead of "metaphasic radiation"; In the TNG episode "The Outrageous Okona" (TNG 2x04), when Guinan is arguing with Data about his lack of sense of humor, "'doid" is translated has "Nigroid". And these are only a little sample.

Will Paramount Spain put the same (lack of) effort in the promotion of this new movie?

#98
I see... It looks like the french case is not so bad, after all... ;-)

By the way, I discovered only recently that TOS had been dubbed by french canadians. I was very surprised because they had absolutely no accent!
Anyway since I have the DVDs, I only watch the original version.
A good way to progress in english... ;-)

#97 James... you are not alone... as I said before there are many clubs here...
Metete en la web del club nacional: www.clubstartrek.es , que tiene un foro o dime de donde eres y trato de ponerte en contacto con más gente, que conocemos trekkies de practicamente toda España...

#96 You know... when we buy the DVDs of DS9 or Voyager (that are the same edition in france, germany, italy, spain...) we feel really jerlous because all have their national dubbin in french, italian, etc... but the spanish one is the latin... not our own...
Maybe in pay channels... but at least you have that... we can't heard it on castilian spanish even paying the 100 euros/season on the original plastic versión (50 now on the cheap one)...

#77:
I don't why, but Star Trek is not popular in France.
When I read this excellent report about the preview in Spain, I found that the situation regarding ST in Spain was very similar to the one we have in France.
TOS was shown on a free channel during end-80 & early 90s? But following series didn't have the same chance. Nowadays, people can see ST on some crypted channels (Hmm, I mean they have to pay for it...).
So, not everybody have access to ST through TV.

Regarding your question about what we think from Picard and his french inheritage, I would say that unfortunalety, most people don't even know he exists...

I hope that JJ's movie will make ST more popular in France.
From what I read in a report about the preview (written in French), it seems possible! :-)
