Harry my man, who says the tats are compensation? By your reasoning, Darth Vader wasn’t scary ’cause he needed that respirator. Hannibal didn’t have tats because he was a former psychologist that ate people. We have no idea what Nero’s tattoo’s are all about, but I don’t see the point in deciding they’re compensation for bad acting before seeing the actual, ya know, acting. That’s just me.

i suppose my main point (which i failed to make) was that the tng producers (including mr. roddenberry) violated established star trek canon by changing their appearance. i did not study evolution in college, but i believe a change like that would take longer than a hundred years to appear. ;)

btw: it looks like j.j. is not the only person to play fast and loose with the holy star trek canon. ;)
