I was a Trekie before the word was coined. Every Friday watched Star Trek, then went out with my college friends. Later in life, when Trek was in syndication, watched Trek and then went to bed! Can’t wait for the new Star Trek!!! Live long and prosper.

I like the uniforms,…..much better than the Enterprise uniforms…..Maybe If we want we can have Old Spock make a couple of stops in his timeship……get uniforms from deep space nine,drop them off to Archer on Enterprise……and the uniforms would fit into the perfect bermanverse………….Get over it……I like the way they are staying true to the timeline……Quit modernizing everything……….That is how it stays authentic….And iconic

I really believe that JJ’s Star Trek will be very popular among all the non-fans/general audiences….

A few instances lead me to believe:

1. my 17yo brother (non-trek fan) was showing the preview to 6 of his friends over the weekend on the XBox… They were swearing up and down on how good it looks and that they’ll definitily be going to the movies to see it.

2. A few of my best girl pals (also die-hard non-trekers…to the point of revulsion of the thought of star trek) saw the trailer at the movie theatres and are talking about it. comments like: “it’s about time” and “If ST looked like this in the past, I would be a fan”

People are really digging the new look and feel of Star Trek…. This may very well be its revival to mainstream.

Just my thoughts of course…. :)

How about a new trailer which actually shows us some of this optimism JJ? All I’ve seen so far is alot of stuff being blown up, and conflict between Kirk and Spock…Lets see some of this hope…. which defined the ‘real’ Star Trek.

After seeing a sort of un-trekian trailer #2, the addition of Nimoy in this new version tremendously warmed me up again to this movie.
