I look forward to Star Trek being back. Not only in this new film. But back on TV it's been far too long without The crew of the Enterprise Going Boldy Into The unknown. Please let this be the year a new series is Born.

I, too am a huge fan of movie music, so had to check out your link. Are they kidding?!! Have you heard it? Is it any good? I studiously avoided that film as well. Just curious...

I just realized that if a Pepsi marketing exec is talking about Star Trek, it most likely implies the next tie-in for Trek XI will be Pepsi.

Pepsi does not drop other brandnames lightly, and their latest billboards here in NYC are all about optimism and renewal.

I worked a number of years for Pepsi, and this is not a bad thing. They are top-notch marketeers, and this cooperation, if it happens, would expose Trek XI to the entire world, especially first-timers, via co-branding and Pepsi TV and cinema ads.

It's young people. The new generation, Re-invention. Fun, etc.

For Trekkers, it means Pepsi at the academy and Pepsi on the messhall tables, and at the bar where Kirk meets Uhura. Potentially painful for the faithful, but you are going to see the film anyway.

Anthony---any way of finding out? ;-)

88:

Charles, we're up to 7.8%, pulling away from Avatar.

I actually forgot there was a new Potter movie until I read your post. Shouldn't all those Hogwarts kids be out of college by now?

Great selection of Trek-related articles. The UK Sun had a wonderful article featuring Simon Pegg from last October.

I am female and I have been a Star Trek fan since I was eight. I am also a huge science fiction fan and I have been told my viewing and reading choices are more masculine than feminine. So much for gender stereotypes. I have been labeled a "nerd" and a "geek" all of my life.

I am really looking forward to this movie in May!

90. RevivedFanManChild -- I was curious about that, as well, but then I realized that story revolves around "first looks" -- namely, exclusive pics and info on some of the movies opening in '09. Entertainment Weekly already did that for Trek back in November, and they apparently don't have any more exclusive material to show at this point. So, that's why Trek's not there. :)

As a side note... I just looked at this week's Entertainment Weekly. The cover story is Must-See Movies of 2009 and listed on the cover are: Harry Potter, Terminator Salvation, Public Enemy, Wolverine

NO mention of Star Trek -anywhere- in the issue... !@!&! How is that possible in any universe other than some altered timeline where Trek never existed... And EW did a full cover in October on the upcoming Trek movie, too. This is a disaster!

Honestly, though, I'm a bit puzzled.

Those are some of the worst efforts I've ever seen on Worth 1000. Oof.

Usually they are phenomenal.
