Keep Track of TrekMovie On Twitter

Want to follow TrekMovie even more closely? Want to know what we are working on before it is on the site? Well now you can by using the popular social networking site Twitter. TrekMovie now has its own Twitter page which you can ‘follow’ and keep up to date on what is going on and coming up, from TrekMovie.com. More details below.

If you are already a Twitter user, then go to the TrekMovie page and start following.

For those who are not familiar with Twitter, it is a very popular social networking service where each member updates (or microblogs) activity via short text messages. You can choose to ‘follow’ anyone’s updates, which will show up on your own Twitter home page and can be seen on mobile devices, cell phones, and via browser plugins (like TwitterFox). Twitter is used by individuals and organizations. One of the more prolific users of Twitter is Wil Wheaton (check out his page), where almost 30,000 ‘followers’ keep track of his every movement.

Twitter is also used by many websites like AICN, io9, ScreenRant and others (as well as mainstream news organizations like CNN). Each uses it in different ways. Like other sites, TrekMovie ‘tweets’ automatically for every new article posted on the site (with a link). In addition you will see tweets from the editors of TrekMovie about what they are working on next or maybe just updating readers on something they found interesting (a new movie, book, etc.). Twitter is a great way to keep up on what is going on with TrekMovie, including some behind the scenes. You will also see some interactions between TrekMovie and other Twitterers, including other media websites.

To begin following TrekMovie.com on Twitter you need to join Twitter (for free), then go to the TrekMovie page and click ‘follow.’ Also take a look at who we are ‘following’ (and who they are following) and start building up your list of people to follow (or search for others).

On the front page in the short term, we have put up a special Twitter widget that allows you to see the ‘tweets’ from TrekMovie, and it also has a ‘follow’ button.

So if you are already Twittering, then sorry we are late to the party, and if you are new to Twittering, then it is time to join in the social networking revolution. And TrekMovie has more social networking projects in the works including a new FaceBook page and a new set of forums here at TrekMovie.com. 2009 is the year that we get the fans more involved and connected to the leading Star Trek news site.

I just want the movie to come out, this is still the best site for new information on the movie anyway!!

Twitter? Never heard of it. Hey, I’m first!

Damn, George beat me to it! LOL!!

Oh no Anthony not you too! I can’t stand it, I have friends who never stop obsessing with Twitter and it drives me nuts. Oh well sign me up.

Since 49% of respondents to the poll about twitter hadn’t heard of it, i feel it is fair to suggest that those folk educate themselves before jumping into the pool:
like everything else on the Internet, caution should be exercised. :-)

Yeah….Twitter Twitter Twitter…I love Twitter!

Want to know what we are working on before it is on the site?

Oh great. Now I can start being impatient for STXIV right now.

Didn’t Twitter just have a major breach?

And I don’t think I need it anyway…cause, well, I click on this site 100 times a day anyway. ;) (Need a 12-step program I think)

Been following @trekmovie for awhile now. Glad to see you’re tweeting with regularity now.

I’m sorry, I’m pretty “up” on the new tech, but that’s where I draw the line.

I refuse to learn more!

I am now officially old!

AP, if you’re in, I’m in.

I’m the Christopher Moltisanti to your Tony Soprano. I will follow you to the gates of Hell, my friend.

anyone got any heroin?

THE WOMEN!!

Twitter can be useful, but it can also be stupid. People who post “I just ate an apple” or, “I just got off the toliet” should never use Twitter.

However, for up to the minute news updates, it can be quite useful.

Great thanks a lot AP, not only am I totally addicted to this site but now I can follow the TrekMovie Twitter all day on my iPhone too (even in meetings).

You could follow me but I don’t think you’d find half as interesting!

Seriously, this is great, now please convince Bob Orci to start a Twitter too!

The trouble with Twitter is that a lot of websites use it to continuously post links to new articles on their site. This gets annoying as that is what RSS Feeds are for.

“Twitter.” “Hulu.” “Snapfish.” “Smugmug.”
I am SO SICK of these cutesy little names for stupid websites.
TWEETING?!?!?????
No fkg thanks!!!
I find this site quite sufficient, thank you.
I’d rather CREATE something than spin my wheels on pointless BS.

#12,

I just ate and apple while ON the toilet. Isn’t that interesting and post-worthy?

Just imagine what I might do next!

..no offense, but man, I’m just not THAT interested in anything or anybody. lol

…You know, the only people who are going to subscribe to the Twitter feed are those who simply want to pop on and see if they can just post “FIRST!” and actually be the first poster.

Twitter and tweet. I don’t even know what those mean. Something along the same lines as MySpace and FaceBook. Something about social networking. I hate social networking. Don’t give two craps about finding out what some dude on the periphery of my life in high school (over twenty years ago) is doing now. I’ll just continue hanging out here. I’m sure some folks’ll find this helpful but I’m not one of them. Again, if I knew you in high school I don’t care an iota for you now as I have no memory of you now! Stop acting interested!

It’s just another news update thing. I get that here.

Why should I twitter when news ultimitly comes on this site.

NO! 2 TWITTER!

aint it cool.com – your ultimate source to all things new in Trek!

Izzen up, AP’s DA MAN, and watch his macbook twitter to an fro, all the livelong day.

Twitter. I like it. It’s like if you took the 2 slang words for a woman’s reproductive organ and sustenance dispensers, mashed them up like Van Halen and the Beastie Boys, ala DJ AM and Travis Barker, and that is what you get! aiiiight. Wraps yo heads ’round that, kiddies!

TWITTER, baybeeee. YEAH~!!

=h=

22. TWITTER TWOTTER TWATTER! –
“aint it cool.com – your ultimate source to all things new in Trek!”

You’re kidding, right?! AICN has probably broke more *fake* news with regards to the new movie than actual news! Or are you still hoping to see that scene where the Enterprise protects a ragtag fleet of freighters from an eminant attack from Nero that’s “just too exciting to describe”? ‘Cuz it isn’t in the film. Thank you, AICN.

Anthony! Why do these comments deserve to be posted but my second was deleted?! I totally don’t get it! Yes, I don’t like social networking sites. At all! But I said nothing about eating apples on toilets or made any sideways references to female parts! C’mon!

Seriously, to each his own, but isn’t life already too much of an information highway? How much do we need to know? Isn’t Trekmovie.Com enough???

I just read about some new “service” called Qwitter, IIRC, that allows persons who have Twitter to be alerted when someone quits receiving their Twitter updates…One person they interviewed for the article was getting all upset about folks who didn’t care to hear about when she broke wind or picked her nose…Sheesh, people, get a damn life…

#15 – “I’d rather CREATE something than spin my wheels on pointless BS.”
WELL SAID!

#17 & #19 – I’m with y’all on this one!

WOW!

Now I can catch up on lame stories and top 10/best of lists before it reaches this site, craptastic!

Darth “This will be deleted” Ballz

Can I Twitter on the sh….. errrr, pooper??

I would like to beam social networking into the great void of space.

I love JJ’s profile and how it almost entirely consists of him commenting on the fact that he doesn’t know how to use it or never uses it.

http://twitter.com/JJ_Abrams

Back in my day one would excuse himself after ‘tweeting’ – or was that ‘tooting’?

Oh well.

I. don’t. think. so.

#30–

While you’re at it, I think you need to remind those kids to stay the hell off your lawn. :-)

…Actually, the biggest problem with Twitter is when people abuse the social networking aspect of it by using it to post only what they’re doing in order to generate buzz and hype about themselves and not have the courtesy of following the “tweets” of those who follow them. One of the most notorious of these who’s Trek-related is Wil Wheaton, who’s actually made it clear in some of his tweets that he doesn’t follow 90% of those who follow him.

My view is simple: if I follow your tweets, you follow mine. Otherwise, your tweets are no better than spam.

[/soapbox]

SO this twitter thing, its like following tweets? OM, hook me up with your twitter. I’ll follow you. I’m also going to follow AP.

And I even though I cannot comment on young Wesley Crusher because the last time that I did, I got banned here. And there’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me twice — you can’t get fooled again.

I am sorry that my enthusiasm offended you, Izbot. I doubt that you were censored though. It was probably the spam filter.

THE WOMEN!!

=h=

I’m already a fan on Facebook so as interesting as it sounds I think I’ll stick with the social networking site that i’ve already got!

I DONT TWITTER
Im more old school. Not web 2.0
I like this site juist fine

So was this twitter feed one of the ones hacked yesterday?

Lots of smoke on twitter, little fire like on the web site here.

My two credits.

Twitter does have its uses, and it’s great the site here now has a feed. The service would have been great back in the 300-baud BBS days, since it limits posts to 140 characters :)

Twitter is fun. All the cool kids are doing it these days.

See ya there. :)

41.

to bad I’m not a kid anymore.
I don’t think anybody needs me there

42. Sure we do – get onboard.

And most of the rest of ya. When my friends and co-workers ask me whether there is verisimilitude in the average episode of “The Big Bang Theory” when it comes to fandom, I’ll refer them to this thread. :)

Wow. All this fuss over Twitter…

I think I’ll just keep myself out of it, I come to this site quite frequently anyway. This is easier than signing up for something.
