My husband (an avid fan and a Trekkie) and me watch the movie the first day it was out (Philippines). We're planning on watching it again because there's something we want to check - when they are away from the Enterprise, we don't remember seeing them use their communicators. They were talking to the ship like on Next Generation episodes - where the communicators were pinned on their uniforms. Is this an oversight? Thank you

Did it not occur to the movie makers that these props had already been disigned forty three years ago. They could have saved a bunch of money and made some fans happy just using the original designs.

OH NO I'm sorry, Then it would not have been JJ's baby!

"Why does the communicator look so much like a cell phone?"

The proper question is, "Why do cell phones look so much like communicators?"

Because the people working for cell phone companies were Trekfen who saw the design of the Communicator as a goal.

There's simply GOT to be a deal hatching right now to make a cellphone and bluetooth earpiece. Its the two single most logical items to make, and it amazes me they've not been done yet. Remember how much money the matrix phones were going for? Peanuts. The manufacturers will make their money back SOLELY on the money one provider pays to make the phone exclusive to them.

You know... I think I have that same communicator...a pair of them in fact. I got them for my birthday in 1977... They are made by Mego. I guess they just got rid of the telescoping antennae...but I do have the same insignia on the front. Maybe they should use one of the phaser toys from the same era for their rendition of the new movie version. I guess it's easy to get a job in Hollywood these days as a designer! Noone will hold you to account!!! Now what will we destroy next?....

Ok I'm writing this here because I have no way to contact JJ Abrams otherwise. Look, As star Trek Fans we have already Lost DeForest Kelley, James Montgomery Doohan, Majel Barrett, a Host or Writers and Crew From the orginal show Today we lost Ricardo Montalban The Best Trek Villian who ever was. And You Sir are getting it all wrong your chariters are not they way they should be Your Time line of events is off your ship and tool used in it are totaly wrong. In other show that you made up you are Great at Your Job. But this, This is not right! not for the people who first scraped by just to put the show together. Not for the fans who worked so hard to get just a little more out of the early episodes, nore the ones who stood in freezing weather to get into a new movie. Please, Fix your mistakes and release it at december. Keep the integity of Star Trek in tact, Be known as the person who Saved Star Trek, Not as the one who killed it to Satisfy His own "Vision" After all It is Gene's Not yours.

My friends if you are over 25 as you read this list you had an image come to your mind. Most likly if you are under 25 and watch sci-fi you also had an image. 1 out of 4 will have the same image as the ones over 25. If I say ant you're not going to picture a spider. If i say Pond you're not going to picture a building. If i say car you're not going to picture a boat. This is how it is with the new star trek movie. Mr Abramms can call things what ever he wants! That dose not make it so. The only person to invent Star Trek Is Gene RoddenBerry. Many author, show writes have made this comment: "Gene thank for letting us play in your Universe." But as far as The new star Trek Movie Being "Star trek", Galaxy Quest was a lot closer.
