possibility for data - dont forget about lore, he wasn't destroyed just dissassembled, by data, so in theory all they have to do is wipe all of lore's memory ande programming, and transfer all data's programming over from B4's head to lore's head, failing that, just ask Q for a small favour (pull him out just as shinzon's ship goes boom)

1. Data: If Captain Data exists in the timeline with which we are familiar, then he would have to be a new Soong-type android. Data got blowed up, and B-4 is primitive. Just because my Atari 2600 has a microprocessor does not mean that I can xfer over modern-day software expect it to run. In other words, B-4 is Vista. My money is on a positronic breakthrough by Bruce Maddox at Daystrom.

2. Gorn: Easy no-win scenario solution. Beam redshirts directly to each Gorn bridge armed with bamboo cannons. "Hey Lizards, we shall be merciful...and quick!"

3. Crossover unis: The unis are great! But I also liked the NX-01 jumpsuits, so do I still have cred?

Not really crazy about these uniforms even though I liked them at first. The white piping on the color looks oddly tacky. Why not make i the branch/department color?

Also, are the pip sizes for the rank insignia really increasing as they follow from left to right? Why would an military or para-military organization design that?

I'm really hoping you get to modify your uniform in the game.

@ 59 Yea they did, in TNG Unification, they compared their seperate ideologies, Spock's dislike of his human side and Data's thirst to be Human.

I dont know if they have come up with some cock-and-ball excuse for how he is still alive, I doubt it, I reckon the B4 conversion is the most likely answer, that or they simply don't address it at all and allow us to make up our own minds about it...that would be a logical way of getting out of it!

Besides, I find it unlikely that in the comic Data turns up as Captain of the Enterprise then gets into a whole random side-story about how he is still alive...would seem a bit disjointed! I think they'd just ignore it, unless it was of vital importance to the story itself!

@ 58 That would be disappointing. And in the comic, Spock says Data is a friend. Have they ever met before (to our knowledge)?

It's obvious.

Spock went back in time in his (cloaked) timeship & beamed Data out of the firing chamber on the Simitar a 25th of a second before the Thaleron matrix exploded.

He then held Data in the pattern buffer, warped to the vicinity of a the nearest federation starbase, and dropped him a few year's drifitng time (3-4 billion km) away from the base.

Data finds himself drifting in space, assumes he got blasted away from the explosion, and shuts himself down to await rescue.

A decade or so later, he shows up on the perimeter sensors of the base and is rescued.

Thus, DATA LIVES!

@53:

E:\nterprise>_

Man, that's hilarious! I had that as a prompt many MANY years ago back when I ran a DOS machine and was trying to be cute while setting up "Star Trek: The Next Generation: A Final Unity" from Spectrum Holobyte.

Ah, that was an awesome Star Trek game....good times, good times!

And great Geek joke, Fascinoma!

Also, on topic, I love the crossover of uniforms. It makes it feel more like all this is actually happening in a 'living' Star Trek universe. Looks great!

Another theory is that someone had the ability to construct a new body for Data and transfer his memories form B-4. It would be strange, because he wouldn't even remember dying.

Speaking of a CG Data, if this new movie is successful, why not have a CG-aminated Star Trek? I mean, "The Clone Wars" on Cartoon Network is doing well, ratings-wise. It would be a new and interesting way to re-introduce Trek to TV and maybe gain some new fans, too. It would have to be done carefully, not as obviously "for kiddies" as SW:TCW is. Besides, it would, as someone stated, allow Data and the rest of the Ent-E crew (or anyone from the other crews)to return without the hassle of "he/she" is too old to play X or Y character, since the actors would lend only their voices. And there are plenty of talented voice-actors out there who could "imitate" certain characters, thus side-stepping the "prima-donna" syndrome of any particular actor not wishing to participate (or for those who have passed away, as the case may be).
Just my six quatloos worth....
