It's funny, when I first started watching DS9 I thought Nana was just too unpoilished to play Kira, but then I realized that was part of the character all along and that's what was endearing about her. She was brash and straight-forward and right from the beginning you could feel the underlying tension of her responsibility, and high expectations in light of the struggle the Bjorans had gone through, the alliance with Starfleet and the weight of it on her. You can tell Nana just took ownership of all that and filled Kira with a vibrant, vulnerable and yet fierce spirit. Kira will always be one of my favoriate female sci-fi characters. Nana made her so memorable. I still miss DS9. Nothing has replaced it for me. I tried BG for a while, but it just felt a little too soap opera for me and I lost interest. DS9 had just enough quirky characters and humor that it just felt more balanced than the other sci-fi series out there.

OK thanks for the Info Darren....Well we all hope the Experience will be up and running in some form or another as soon as possible....I wonder if the Hilton would let there be an informational sign by the monorail station sign stating where the experience is now, once it is up and running....hmmmm

I just re watched Emissary and the first eps from the first dvd of DS9 and it is amazing how deep and complex and excellent the story and all the actors are....several scenes even foreshadow the last episodes 7 years later.....How can anyone forget characters like Major Kira, Quark, Odo, and Dax? And Cisko, and his love and pain for his late wife, and how he could not let go of her even though it was a dark painful place until the aliens pointed it out to him.....and he cried...he cried....in the first episode....I have to admit.....DS9 was a much more HUMAN ADVENTURE than TNG ever was....that also explains its focus on WAR later in the series....also alas, all too human....

73- I agree. Similitude was particularly poignant I thought, for what could have been a cheezy clone episode. I did enjoy episodes like "Dead Stop" and "The Communicator." I loved how the Andorians were portrayed as well. I always thought they would have been better off establishing the Andorians as the main villain, and having Archer slowly win them over until the Romulans attacked. Wouldn't have needed Klingons.

I do lament the show didn't have a chance to keep going on under Manny Coto. I keep hoping for a TV movie or direct to DVD release which "untells" the show finale like in the book "The Good that Men Do."

#72---Funny that you mentioned "The Forge". I just finished revisiting that one.

I don't generally re-watch the first and second seasons, because I think it was still finding the right gear, but I love revisting the third and especially 4th seasons once in awhile. ENT found a good stride once Manny Coto came aboard to steer the ship. Sadly, too many had abandoned it early or never gotten the opportunity to see it in the first place on that obscure network.

"Twilight", "Similitude", and "Terra Prime" are also wonderful episodes.

#71- I'll give some props to TAS- yes, it was fairly kiddie-fied. However, I think there were some concepts I would like to have seen applied to the characters in a different format. "Albatross;" McCoy arrested on an alien world for having accidently caused a plague during an innoculation project years before? Neat story!

I also can't bag on ENT too much. Yes, the show had its problems, but overall I really enjoyed it. Sure, It had continuity issues, but usually (though not always) was at least decent Science Fiction. I was more fond of those characters than of many of the TNG or Voyager characters as well. Frankly, Soval and Admiral Forrest's conversation in the opening scene of "The Forge" exemplified everything I personally think Star Trek is about. I hope the new film gets that as well...

#66---Fair enough.

Here's mine:

TOS
ENT
DS9
TNG
TAS
VOY

I think that TOS had about 20-25 fantastic episodes. The rest range from okay to just bad. But the thing is--to me--some of the bad ones are so bad---they're fantastic!

I couldn't combine TNG and VOY and come up with 25 episodes that I'd go out of my way to watch again---and both of them ran for 7 seasons each.

I really like DS9 alot though. Some good stuff there. I suppose that I surprise alot of people with my second choice, but to each his own, right?

There is really only one TAS episode that I care anything about, and probably not so surprisingly, it is "Yesteryear". Great story.

67> But Kira was the lead...

No, Sisko was the lead. The title sequence had "Starring Avery Brooks..." and then everyone else was in alphabetical order by the actors' surnames, which meant Ms. Visitor was actually at the bottom of the cast list.

[In a semi-related thought, I always wondered how come Cirroc Lofton was called a regular, especially in the last few series - I'm pretty sure Garak, f'rinstance, appeared in more eps in the last series than Jake...]

#61 Jim Nightshade
Just click on my name it will take you to my site or the other ones linked to it. As far as I know on the new Experience the deal is done its just a matter of the economy and they havent finished with tearing out the old Experience, the sign for it is still on the building. Its funny we still meet up at Spaequest and people sit down and ask where the Star Trek thing is even though its been 5 months.
