With the movie re-releases being their true theatrical releases, and I recall Trek VI being 2.35:1 and having a lot of great McCoy lines chopped for the home video release, I am truly hoping the Kirk era movies get re-re-released for standard-def DVD as well. And ST:TMP as the original version, deemed snooze-fest or otherwise, deserves to be out for completion’s sake.

I am waiting for the Director’s Edition of ST-TMP and being to buy individual films RATHER than buy Star Treks 5 and 10, which I will not do! 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and Star Trek is ALL the films I ever want to own on Blu-Ray or a FUTURE medium! Perhaps all of the Trek films will also be streamed from netflix or some fiber optic network when broadband becomes common everywhere as well! I read about a possible successor to blu-ray using holographic technology so it would be POSSIBLE to own an ENTIRE tv series on one disc or ALL of the TREK films on one disc! Perhaps Trek XII or XIII will also be shot in 3D!!! That would be most fascinating!!! I’m an aspiring Screenwriter and lifelong Trek Fan! Trek is more relevant NOW than EVER!!!

Season three was crap. Even the episodes from Gene Roddenbury were really, really bad. At that point, they were trying to cut costs any way they could. My kids think Star Trek is a monster show. In Season 3, they were picking unused soundstages at Desilu and writing episodes around recycling the sound stage (gangster planet. indian planet. flower child planet. presidents planet. etc.)

The Cage, however, if one of the finest pieces of science fiction that has ever appeared 1st-run on Television. I have no doubt that they are putting it onto the season 3 DVD in order to stimulate season 3 sales. I just watched the “broadcast” version of the cage and imho, no matter how hard they try, the ~10 missing minutes of content put a serious hurt on the original pilot.

Once again, Paramount can tell just how stupid fans of Star Trek are. Are you kidding me, $139.99 for one season of the original Star Trek show in Blu Ray. Give me a friggn break – that is a rip off, pure and simple. Sadly, the fans, as noted above, will be willing to pay for this instead of keeping their wallets closed to send a message to Paramound to stop with the out of line pricing. Name one other television series that that type of pricing. Yes, I know its regular DVD, but Stargate complete seasons sell for $34.00 new. Even if you doubled that price to account for blue-ray, it would only be $68.00. And people wonder why torrent sites exist – keep ripping of the fans and people will rip off you.

The Original Series – Season 1 Blu -Ray is an incredible package. Great picture and sound.

I can’t believe how poor the remastered FX look on my HD system. What a complete and utter joke this so called “updating” is.

You hear comments from third rate FX artists gushing about what an honor it is to work on the iconic series, you hear sincere statements from the Okudas about how much they respect the work of the originals, then they go and make the Enterprise do barrel rolls and produce really cartoony video game like visuals.

It’s laughable when they show the work of the updated next to the originals and the originals always look better and more realistic.

There’s a reason they let you have both versions – Original FX and 17 year old remade, nintendo wii graphics. I’ll take my original Trek remastered, not enhanced by incompetants…thank you.

I would wait for the next blu ray update before purchasing any Star Trek movies, this release doesn’t include the “special edition” releases and the transfers are horrible except for Trek II
