I do like the new Enterprise (with reservations), but from some filming angles, she is just plain butt ugly.

That said, I see and appreciate the amalgamation of the TOS Enterprise, the refit Enterprise and the D.

This version definitely is a beefier rendition. The saucer section is point on. The neck looks less vulnerable during an attack which is logical. The weak link, in my opinion, remains the warp engines and to a lesser degree, the engineering hull.

I hope the ship completely wins me over on the big screen. I am about 85% there as is.

One thing is certain, the new design may be the most controversial and comment-generating aspect of the film. As Roddenberry once said, “the Enterprise is a character of Star Trek.”

Admiral McCoy said “treat her like a lady and she’ll always bring you home (or something like that).”

Less than nine weeks to go.! woo.hoo!
