We are all looking forward to the new Star Trek movie headed our way in a couple of months. However ‘Star Trek Torch,’ an amazing new video from our old pal Spockboy Paul, reminds us all of where it it all came from. Check out the video below, which Paul put a lot of effort into, to herald the passing of the torch.
Star Trek Torch (make sure to click the ‘HQ’ button)
JJ Abrams, his ‘Supreme Court’, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and all of the new team are truly standing on the shoulder’s of giants. We may be counting down the days to the new movie, but we will never forget that the crew of that first…Enterprise.
Classic Spockboy

Spockboy es muy bonita. MI GUSTA
Amazing montage! Thanks so much for doing that.
Really nice!
Great Video… Took me back to when I was a little kid watching the show in reruns in the 80’s
Awesome stuff. Can’t believe how soon the movie will be here. And also that I’ll see it before the states will!
Kudos to Mr. Paul Sibbald! Thank you sir.
Great tribute, thanks :)
Excellent job! I miss watching TOS. Great selection of video clips and very well edited.
That TORCH video was awesome.
I must admit that “Tomorrow Is Yesterday” gag reel was hilarious. Especailly when Kirk was like, “….what?” haha
That was unique! there really is some great talent walking around these parts.
That there Star Track E looks so much much better than the new movie version.
Torch video…great job!
Great video!
Wow! I’ve been reading TrekMovie.com for three years! There goes three years down the drain.
lol,,thats a laugh
I wonder what Spockboy will do with ST : TFB when its out,,
:o)

good Job Spockboy.
Oh, no!! Keeler was actually mentioned by name! How many zeroes will he want on the cheque for that???
I’ve been wondering where Spockboy’s been at. Great vid, sir! Great vid!
if you have been reading trekmovie.com for three years you imagined the first five months…this site went live August 2006
Star Trek the torch is great–I love how it shows so much of what made the original show great and contrasts it with the footage from the new film.
Truly great.
I had to admit my favorite of these is still this one, which covers the whole franchise for the 40th Anniversary:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=6173434
That, for me is what Star Trek is all about…
Oh. Off by 5 months
2 years, 7 months
Oh, jeez….that ‘Tomorrow Is Yesterday’ mashup looks like a family home movie made by my in-laws….I am NOT kidding….Spockboy, you are a god. ROTFLMAO :-)
Great video! I just love this torch analogy, it’s very fitting. Beautiful, indeed. Thank you.
21: I agree. Maybe it was the music, but that one made me cry when I saw it the first time. It deserves an award.
I LOVED IT! That was totally awesome, and neatly sums up exactly how I feel about the “passing of the torch” on May 9th. Well done, Paul… well done!
The music on that Torch video was amazing… great job!
Excellent stuff, this guy does fantastic work, hahahahaha!
Paul is a maestro. His “Spockboy” videos posted on this site are legendary.. browse the archives and check ‘em out!
Thanks Jeff for the 40th anniversary video. I hadn’t seen that until now. Brought a tear to my eye, I don’t mind saying.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let’s just hope the torch isn’t extinguished by a flop.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let’s just hope isn’t extinguished with a massive flop.
#1 Spock of Ages
Great name. For those of us who light candles for eight nights, it’s a good inside joke!
Great mash ups, too.
This video brought tears to my eyes.
Bravo. Bravissimo!
Star Trek is truly for the ages, my friends.
For the uniform… for departed friends… for the future…
The torch is truly passed.
For the ages.
The southern video was cute, but it would have been better without the confederate flag on Spock’s work station. I know it was all in fun, but these days the confederate flag is regarded as being a symbol of hatred–whether that’s really what it stands for or not, doesn’t matter. There are very few people in the south these days who have anything to do with it, and so it seems that this mock-up suggested that “country folk” are just a bunch of dumb rednecks. Not cool.
That Torch video is freakin INCREDIBLE! And so beautifully made, with the film strip motif.
I especially love that final shot of the Enterprise flying away.
Fantastic video!!
God I love classic Trek.
You know, with the “City on the Edge of Forever” footage, Harlan Ellison is going to want a chunk of those Star Trek Torch profits added to his lawsuit…
(Couldn’t resist.)
As a filmmaker, I must say Star Trek Torch is maybe one of the best TREK related videos I’ve ever seen — probably amongst the 3 best. Visually inventive, cool but heartfelt. I’m posting it on my Facebook page.
And I love the A Piece of the Action video — if he hasn’t already, Spockboy should do the same, or something similarly energetic, each accompanied with an appropriate selection of pop/rock, for the 10 or 12 best TOS eps. Speaking purely selfishly and without considering the demands on his time, I think that would be great.
I loved going to the Creation cons in the early 90s when they hsowed fun “music videos” based on TOS, TNG and DS9 that were theme-based montages each cut to an appropriate pop/rock song.
Great job Spock Boy! I love the Star Track one the most though….that one is beyond awesome!
Way to go Paul! The montage of memories was tastefully and accurately done. Most cool . . .
Beautifully done. Definately got a lump in my throat, especially when McCoy was talking about the “billions of galaxies…and only one of each of us”.
This one and the “Inner Light” video are the best Trek tributes I’ve ever seen.
Nice video!
Hey Spockboy, hadn’t seen that before. Nice work. Raising Arizona is my favorite Coen bros. movie. I guess I’m in the minority of people who just don’t see it with the Big Lebowski.
And Wow! Your passing the Torch….amazing. Lotta work. It’s exhausting thinking about the man hours. Somebody’s got to use that. Good stuff.
43–Well, now there are TWO of each of them…haha…
30–Chroma, thanks. I have had that link for a while now. It is a great and mostly chronological overview, and my friends were married to the suite from The Inner Light–so it has a lot of extra meaning for me.
Exactly, 42 (Carig). In each of us is a universe of perceptions, a literal storehouse of the riches existence has given each individual. The universe — god, the creator, what have you — has invested in each sentience a little copy of itself that is unique in all of creation.
Every life is a truly unique universe waiting to be discovered. Where else but in Trek are these things said?
pure awesomeness…great videos!!
46 — three of them … and counting? :-)
Watched and slowed down images dozens of times just now. Great stuff again.
Christ that made me emotional!
Better the “Torch” fizzle out with dignity than burn on in a bastardized form.
52–watch the link I posted in number 21. you will feel better.
I miss those silly mashups. :) Great video, that first one.
A great video
I love TOS so much as well as the spin offs. I also look forward to the new movie but I still believe it will not be the same, so much has changed in look and feel.
I hope to be proven wrong when May comes but making the dialogue more contemporary is one tway the new movie will date even faster than TOS.
I still prefer the original Enterprise and movie refit versions over the new design, which I don’t find as beautiful. To enjoy the film I will choose to ignore it from canon.
Nicely done, very nicely done that first one. Extremely well put together.
There’s things about the new movie I know I’ll probably get some enjoyment out of, like Qunito’s Spock, and seeing Nimoy one last time.
Soon as that shot of Eric Bana came on though, I came back to reality… I miss having quality villains in Star Trek. Curiously though, their names all began with K… Kang, Kor, Khan and Kruge. What the hell is with that?? :P
57 …wHets my appetite anyway…!
Great job Paul! There is something about the original TREK I hope this new version carries on with. The human or quiet moments of life reflections between the characters. Such as those moments between Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Scotty, etc. Beaming up!

Thanks for the link. Amazing video. The Inner Light flute music is such an emotion stirrer. Sitting here in tears at my keyboard.
Beautiful.
Always impressed with Paul, he can inspire and get us to smile. My fave gag is certainly the Tomorrow is Yesterday, maybe because Mad Mad World and Raising Arizona are some of my favorite films.
Spockboys videos rise above the usual ‘mashup’ with the additional voice work, and graphics…he is very skilled
Guardian was in the clip – I want my F*ckin’ payment! Edith is MINE!
What an awesome tribute! WOW!
That really sums the whole TOS story up, and creates a look into the future of Star Trek.
Thanks Paul, Spockboys.
star trek torch you tube clip is awesome. a wonderful tribute and a reminder of where it all began.
cant wait for the movie
cheers

Absolutely amazing! Never heard this arrangement of TOS theme, where does it come from?
Wonder what
STAR TREK 09
would look like if
CHRIS NOLAN
was directing it?
Here’s the Trailer for DARK TREK:

Absolutely superb.. Torch gave me a lump in the throat.. if Paramount had any sense, they would use that as a trailer!
Amazing job, Mr. Sibbald! Thank you!
Spockboys vid is the first to actually get me excited for this movie!
Yay – great fun – nice to see Christine and Janice in the montage – I’m just hoping they make it in the movie franchise.
That Torch video was great… and what it clearly illustrates is that the Original Series is still the biggest and the best of all the Star Treks… it had the vast, over the top theatrics and epic feel of true mythology. The wisest thing anyone ever did was to decide to go back to that original idea and those original characters—now we just have to hope that they continue the mythos in a way that lives up to it and furthers it.
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing!
Spockboy…WONDERFUL work. That was visually creative and an extremely enjoyable tribute to one of the most loved franchises in the universe. I have an extensive television production background and can truly appreciate the editing skills you showed us with that fine production. KUDOS!
Wow, Paul, impressive to say the least. Thank you, Anthony, for posting Paul’s video here.
TOS Enterprise exterior is STILL the coolest! Truly an original.
WOW Paul Sibbald and Scott Gammans did a great job on that video. Made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, almost brought a tear to my eye, but definitely made me proud to be a fan.
The shots were perfect, the music, the switch over to the new Trek, and McCoy’s talking about the probability in the end, that was perfect.
As a fan thank you guys so much.
@ 74. For me I don’t know if TOS Enterprise is the coolest but definitely has the most sentiment attached to it than any other Trek. Gene made Star Trek in a way where before we know it, the show weaves itself into our hearts.
42. Carlg –
Totally agree with you on that McCoy quote. Probably one of my favorites from the entire series.
The quote captures both the sense of wonder at the enormity of the universe while resisting the temptation toward feelings of the insignificance of the individual that can accompany those thoughts.
Awesome job! I think this fine clip does a very nice job of proving that the new movie still looks and feels like Star Trek.
All of the videos were great. I liked the “Benny Hill” sound effects in the “piece of the Action” clip.
Spockboy really does some quality work. Thank You.
@76. I think you have to compare it to the spaceships touted in sci-fi at the time. It was a revolutionary design–not just another art deco rocket or flying saucer. I guess it is the groundbreaking aspect that makes it close to my heart. And I still think it is cool to look at. The cardboard sets* and papier mache planets may not have aged so well, but the old E still looks good IMHO.
Love the McCoy quote. My favorite character. Loved his humanity and decency, even if he were irascible.
* Though I sitll have a soft spot for the E bridge and I think XI Trek could have done a better job bridging the now with the old aesthetic.
Amazing. That’s the best thing I’ve seen in a long time. GREAT video!
Fantastic editing job, Paul. Really superior work.
I just looked at several of yours and Rick Kelvington’s videos, and they’re incredibly inventive. I found your Shore Leave, Tomorrow is Yesterday and especially The Immunity Syndrome videos absolute gut-busters. They showcase the power of great editing.
Rick’s Mission Impossible and Scotty/Buck Rogers videos are also top-notch.
Keep it up, guys!
Scott B. out.
42, 78. I agree. It perfectly captures Star Trek’s humanism — and its awe.
Frakking awesome!
…-Very..very..very.. cool….!!
TOS is just so damn cool.
Great video.
Great video, but where did you get the shot of the ST09 Ent. firing phasers?
Awesome video.
You know, I think that might even have been better than the third trailer!
The Torch was beautiful. Thank you!
Oh my gawd. That was beautiful.
I almost started crying — again. (Just saw “These Are the Voyages…”, which did make me cry.)
# 35–Um are you from the south? Have you been there lately? Because last time I checked there are a lot of people down here who still fly the Rebel flag.
Along with the US flag of course.
The torch vid brought a tear to me eye… :)
*J
Good stuff Paul!
Great Vids! Absolutely brought a tear to these old eyes.
#88– I think it’s from the first or second trailer I believe.
*J
AWESOME video! Loved it a lot… it’s on my Facebook page too!
Thank you for sharing!
That was awesome! Thanks Paul
Excellent video, well edited. As Anthony said, ST09 is standing on the shoulders of giants.
and I almost teared up when I saw the Big E sail off into the sunset…
An amazing video for sure.
My only difficulty is that whole torch aspect…
TOS hasn’t really held it since 1994 and if we’re talking about as the franchise as a whole, nobody from this film invited a certain Mr. Bakula on the set to present it in person.

Well you must not have been here for very long. I’m in southeast Tennessee, and there aren’t many people here who do. What I usually see, is the American flag flying along with the Tennessee flag. I’ve hardly seen anybody sport the rebel flag. The only place where I’ve seen it (though rare), has been in a window of a run-down house or a trailer park out in the middle of nowhere. Otherwise, here where I am, it’s not to be found. It may not represent what it symbolizes these days (that’s in debate), but if that’s the way it’s interepreted, then I say it’s something we can do without. We have the American flag, and that’s all we need.
Don’t get me wrong, thre’s nothing wrong with “you might be a redneck” jokes, and with making fun of southern culture–I mean heck, we make fun of ourselves. At the same time though, it’s this symbol that concerned me so much. it’s not that I want to nit-pick the video, but southern culture is widely sterotyped as being characterized by ignorance and racism. There are many people in our nation who have bigoted misconceptions when it comes to people around here. I’m sure having that symbol in the video didn’t intend to fuel that fire, but it certainly didn’t help matters either. Just making a point.
Spockboy, you are an original.
beat beat beat
Nah — I’ll just leave it at that.
Thanks.
#100– I see what you’re saying and actually I live right next door to ya as it were (NC). I’ve been living here going on 11 yrs and I guess it also depends where you live too as to if you see it much or not.
In the big cities you really don’t see it, but go a little further out and you’ll most likely start seeing it being flown.
And yes people do have misconceptions about it, but around here at least 85% of the people don’t really mind it at all. That’s caucasions, african-americans, hispanics, asians, etc.
But all in all I rather enjoyed the video it was quite hilarious!
It’s also good to know there’s another southerner who likes Trek! They are indeed few and far between! (around here anyways)

I have a REAL Star Trek YouTube link … called “Star Trek … the reality and go out with a real date!” channel … find it here: http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnS72 just posted in case you want to see it the badly produced but real video (as good as it turned out anyway) from Sunday’s Discovery launch – as if you were really there.
Hard to believe that the Shuttle program has been going on for almost as long as Star Trek movies.
Man, I hope this guy has a job doing video, because he has the knack for look and editing. Very well done!
