I still like that Enterprise, it's a good depiction of a ship between the TOS version and the TMP version.

Is it me or does that commercial not play very well on the website?,I had problems with it,it skips a lot.

Ok i saw the commercial a few times now, and I noticed something...peculiar: Is it just me or did the Enterprise seem...well... Tiny? I was hoping for a 90's sized version, but apparently it looks as though they shrunk the size to what looks like MAYBE 12 inches, if that. If thats the case when i receive my package a week after the 19th, i swear i will send a letter to Playmates telling them they ripped me off sizewise.

Diamond Select's toys absolutely buries this stuff, but are a little pricey, though you do get what you pay for. This Playmates line looks to be intended for the Wal-Marts, Targets and Toys R Us's of the world, and will carry a more appropriate lower price point. I must say the new Enterprise IMO looks absolutely ugly, and I'll always view the original Matt Jefferies designed ship as the legitimate TOS-era version.

BTW, Diamond Select is launching 2 new versions of the original 1701 - the Mirror Universe version and an "HD" version that's supposed to be the Remastered CGI ship. Both available at Entertainment Earth later this year.

#43, okay, true.. innards are what counts... but we can't see the innards. Aesthetics? That thing is god-awful ugly.

It just has no real thought behind it... despite looking bad in design (and yes, I stand by my statement of function) whoever thought having a rotating barrel was on crack.

To quote #112
The phaser is the worst design I have ever seen. It looks like a toy, rather than a functional interpretation of a future energy weapon. The original series design still holds up and indeed looks better. What happens if your horizontal stun/kill rotation only goes half way? Do you kill everyone on your left and render unconscious all those on your right? Honestly, I wonder what goes on in design meetings sometimes. I can only imagine that rule 1 is to leave any common sense you might have outside the front door.
