And I neeeeeed to go see Monsters vs. Aliens. A guy at my church’s youth group said he saw it and it was hilarious!

I saw it in 3D and still got a Trek preview (the full kid-UNfriendly one, thankfully) prior to the ‘put on your glasses’ moment.

On taking kids to the new Trek film: I’ll be taking my ten-year-old daughter for sure. Uhura in a bra? Bah. In another couple of years, my daughter will be wearing one. Ho-hum. The suggestive content doesn’t bother me, either. It’s a constant puzzlement to my husband and me that we as a society try so hard to shield kids from sex, but violence just slides right though without comment. (Example: One of my daughter’s favorite films is “The Incredibles.” Great film. Unbelievably violent.)

If my daughter were five years younger, I’d probably leave her at home, not because of the suggestive content, but because she’d be bored to tears.

Side note: We went to see “Monsters vs. Aliens” today. Cute, but predictable. And no Trek preview, probably because we saw it in 3D and all the previews were in 3D as well.

Yes, there is “suggestive” content in the new Trek movie, but I’m not a prude and will take my three sons (Chip, Ernie and Rob).

Heck, I took them to Iron Man and that movie had suggestive scenes out the wazoo! OK, sorry, that was an inappropriate metaphor…

It’s nonstop, isn’t it?

I know *that* routine. I have one that is 7. And the 11 year old (who is the Trek fan of the bunch—mostly of the original movies, VOY and ENT) is almost just as bad.

So when my wife asks, “why are you going see it again?”, that will be my excuse!
