Paramount Launch ‘Rock Band’ Promotion – Win A Private Star Trek Movie Screening

Do you like to Rock? If so, then we have news for you. Today Paramount and MTV Games announced a promotional partnership for the new Star Trek movie and the popular rockin’ videogame Rock Band. The promotion kicks off today and will include music track giveaways, an in-game Star Trek themed battle of the bands and a futuristic avatar contest. You can even win your own personal screening of Star Trek. [and no this is not a April fool’s joke]

Rock Band is one of the most popular video games, allowing you and your friends to live out your dreams as rock stars. The promotion with Paramount has three components.

Song track giveaway
Beginning today, fans can register for a 15-day sweepstakes that will give away 500 free Rock Band Music Store downloads each day from April 7th through April 21st for the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360® and PlayStation®Store for PlayStation3. You can begin registering now at rockband.com/startrek.

Battle of the bands – win a hometown private screening
Starting April 20th and running through April 27th, you can use Rock Band 2’s online Battle of the Bands mode to participate in the STAR TREK Ultimate Battle (available to players with Rock Band 2 for Wii, PS3 and XBox 360). Bands of three to four players can battle the Rock Band galaxy. The band with the highest score will win a Star Trek hometown movie screening for their band and their friends. Additionally, twenty randomly selected players will win Star Trek/Rock Band prize pack equipped with Star Trek and Rock Band gear.

future avatar contest
The final Star Trek/Rock Band promotion launches on April 27th where fans can submit ‘futuristic avatars’ to RockBand.com and the winning avatar maker will be awarded a "The Future is Now" prize pack including the top of the line Rock Band game accessories.

For more on the contest, visit www.ROCKBAND.com/StarTrek.

April Fools Day???

sounds cool! I don’t play, but I’m starting to wish I did.

First?

oh – a private screening? yeah right

I guess I should’ve actually read more of the article…

I already got fooled once today…

I read on comingsoon that George Lucas is going to direct the next Star Trek film after JJ’s.

And the promotion manages to get even more bizarre.

Please tell me this is an April Fools gag…..

4, now that I know is fake.

The only reason I haven’t ruled this out completely is because there have been weirder promos for this movie.

Exhibit A: A Star Trek Dance Party.

this is no joke

“‘Cuz I’ve got faaaaiiith of the he-ea-aaarrrrt–!”

Hm. Trek and rock. Do they really go together?

why all the doubt? this doesnt sound that outlandish to me. Makes sense even. My friends and i may jump right on it. wish us luck!

Yes, they do. It’s canon. End of discussion :)

Funny, I was just thinking the promotions keep getting smarter and better targeted! :)

I personally like the idea that Paramount is playing up this film so large. You guys are the same ones who bash Paramount at every turn….don’t you get it? Getting the word out to everyone is what they are doing and paying a ton of cash for it. I am getting to the point that I don’t want to read what fans think anymore. “This is not MY Trek” they should not be associating with “them” why do they want a “younger” crowd. Do any of you listen to yourselves? Paramount is pulling out all the stops. Have you EVER seen them promo a movie like they have with this one?

I am an original fan. I am 44, I am a crew member of Star Trek Phase II, and I LOVE THIS!!

Bring us new Trek…..get us past the TNG “Your ass-will-be-limited” phase of Trek and give us our cowboy Trek back. I will be standing in line at the “Star Trek Tattoo booth” if Paramount brings it out!

14-

Agreed on all points but the tattoos!

11. AdamTrek –

Ooooooohhhhhhh, it’s canon. Well okay then. I accept that.

There was some leaked info on GameGeek.com showing one of the characters on the Rock Band game as being Prime Kirk and confirming that William Shatner is in the new movie.

4..3..2……..

“I am an original fan. I am 44, I am a crew member of Star Trek Phase II, and I LOVE THIS!!”

I’m 41, been a fan since ’75 and I, too, love this!

Ha. I’m already in a Star Trek Themed RB band. Our name – The Gamesters of Triskelion.

I absolutely love rockband… I sometimes play on the weekend with a couple buddies of mine. We’re pretty good too…though I doubt good enough to win the screening =(

Star Trek + rock = happy fun times

ooooh i like that command insignia guitar graphic:) i smell a potential product line…a star trek guitar line xD

but seriously i find a rock-oriented promotion for a film that doesn’t even have an accompanying ‘songs inspired by’ album lined up for it an insult and a kick in the balls with a klingon spiked-toe boot

I love rock!

Not really into rock, but I guess its good marketing for the film.

Aboard the starship Enterprise…

There is a man who’ll hypnotize…

With his pointed ears and devlish grin…

He’ll put a spell on you.

McCoy: “Just how much ROCK are we gonna go through?”

I’m a Doctor not a music conductor!

I’m thinking of a punk rock version of Beyond Antares with a Kirk Thatcher avatar.

US only, I presume?

@18
I’m 33, been a fan since 1975 (the year I was born) and… well… I don’t love this.

…but, as we say on Earth, c’est la vie. At least Trek is being promoted by Paramount for the first time in… a decade?

LOL, you guys crack me up. xD

I’d like to see someone attempting to “Rock Band” it out to “Faith of the Heart” (season 3-4 version, of course). Hehe! That, or the closing to ENT season 3-4, which I actually really, really liked.

Im guessing this is april fools. Star Trek and rock band just dont go together. If its not april fools, then its just stupid. I love rock band, dont get me wrong, but it just doesnt go with Star Trek.

COOL!

No doubt that the “Bring Dr. Smith Back” fan club is behind this one. Galaxy-a-Go-Go anyone?

When it comes to Star Trek. LETS! ROCK!

In the words of Kevin Rudolf:

“Let it Rock!” :)

*J

I love it! This is brilliant IMHO.

shit.

Expect to be hearing ALOT of Klingon Opera / Rock-N-Roll Mashups…lol.

I think this is a great idea… this is awesome!

Herbert.

“I Hate You!”

Anthony 8,
Well then, I’m in!

“We’re Starfleet officers. ‘Weird’ is part of the job.”
-Capt. Kathryn Janeway, Starship Voyager.

I am SO all over this! This is awesome! What a great combo!

SciFi “Metal” Girl

Seeking three female bandmates to be back-up players for my new band, “Oiling My Traps”

Speaking as a Life long trek fan, and a fan of rock band who bought both special editions of RB 1 and RB 2, I do not think that it is fair that the contest is only open to residents of the US. What about us Canadian’s huh? If it wasn’t for us there would be no Kirk!

This is a slap in the face to Canadian Fans.

And I actually won a download off that, yay for free songs cause of Star Trek.

We ( 3 adults ) will be in Santa Monica on September 2-5 , 2009 staying at Loews. The last visit we got free movie screening tickets just hanging out shopping on 3rd street. We are flying out from Tennessee just for holiday. Is there any chance we could have the screening opportunity again?
Sincerely,

Sherry Birger
