58. AzarN,
59. fctiger,
62. ande Maddox,
and
65. Carol & Connie - April 8, 2009

Thanks for the great, detailed, personal, and spoiler-free comments!
I particularly loved AzarN's banter with the cast, Carol and Connie's luck-out, and Ande's TOS memories, you should write a book, dude.

I have to thank all the commenters for keeping their lips sealed, as regards spoilers. I was afraid that Trekmovie would be off-limits to me now due to rampant spoilerisation, but so far, it's been immensely enjoyable reading about the various events for the premiere. Nimoy in Austen was a class-act. All "Anti-Fan" comments made by JJ are forgiven after that absolutely priceless coup.

Sooooo....

Star Trek has finally had its world premier and we've hit the home stretch! Only 30 days left for the rest of us!!
What a long three years it's been. I remember back in January of 2008 and seeing the first teaser before Cloverfield with the " coming Christmas 2008" and thinking "oh that's so long to wait!! It'll never get here!!"

These last 30 days are going to kill me with anticipation 8^D

I'm very excited and happy for those who made the premiere. I'm hoping the film has the philosophical nuances and occasional literary allusions that TOS did. That would just be icing on the cake!!

We were on vacation from England and happen to be visiting Sydney Opera House when we realised the premiere for Star Trex was April 7, 2009. We were there!!! Saw and met the cast, had autographs and entered a competition to get tickets. We were one of the winners and actually sat just below all cast and directors of the movie. It was spectacular. Sound, movie was out of this world. Worth watching. I do hope its a hit.

I was at the world premier last night. i laughed, and cried. i was awed and impressed. there was surprise and super fantastic fx, and the homage to TOS was genuine. i am a Trekker, but not uncritical, so if something had sucked i’d say so. i have earned the right: I attended an excellent film school (AFI Class of ’73) and joined the Star Trek crew while they were shooting the 2nd pilot, as a temp, then worked for producer Gene Coon (who even wikipedia leaves out) and stayed on to work with two more producers, into the third season before joining Gene again at Universal.

Gene Coon was responsible for the Klingons, and the Prime Directive amongst others including my favorite, the Horta, who taught respect for all life forms, even silicon based ones.

I loved the two Genes and know they loved me too. I will always be proud to have been Coon’s coon.

Hmm, that's weird, the quote didnt come with it, but my post was in response to #6, 16 and 24 posts!!

Yes, SOME stood up to clap because they were excited, but the rest was politely asked to stand. If they would or wouldnt have gotten up without the request I dont know, but thats why everyone ended up standing and clapping including me.

<>

Well hate to break up the fist fight boys lol, but take it from someone who was actually there in Sydney last night, you both are right actually ;).

When the film ended, some people really did get up because they were excited and started clapping profusely, but then the ushers started waving their hands up to the us motioning us to stand up and applaud the cast and crew, so we naturally obliged. So, there you go :).

Personnally I wouldve stood up anything. Film wasnt perfect, but certainly worth an ovation.
