I have noticed that online degree is getting favorite because getting your degree online has become a popular alternative for many people. Numerous people have definitely not had a possibility to attend a traditional college or university nevertheless seek the improved earning potential and a better job that a Bachelor Degree affords. Still others might have a diploma in one training but would like to pursue something they now have an interest in.

I say bring on the Uhura and Spock! Pllllleeeeaasse. I think it is about time. They should of explored it more before. I think it rather simple minded when people say things like “This is not Spock’s character. There was nothing between them, etc.”

Would it have been offensive if Kirk told Uhura “you’re just a nappy-haired ho who probably dealt in prositution and drug dealing before joining Starfleet”? (Remember the fallout from Don Imus?)

Same use of racial stereotypes, only our society seems to be much more accepting of racism against whites.

I don’t know why it is politically correct these days for Uhura to call Kirk a “hick” when everyone would pretend to be outraged if Kirk called Uhura a certain word starting with N. That alone turned me against the movie.

Of course I remember your original remark. You said you hoped that when Bones mentioned the toilet, that it was the only “feces-related joke” in the movie. I called you silly for making a huge ridiculous huge stretch from what was actually said to calling it a “feces-related joke”. I mean he didn’t even say the word toilet, much less refer to feces.

“I’d appreciate you not calling me a psycho for fearing that McCoy may have actually been hiding IN the toilet. ”

Did you honestly think McCoy might be IN a toilet? I have to ask again. Were you truly afraid he was IN a toilet? How big are toilets or people in your imagination that you were concerned McCoy would actually be inside a toilet? How long have you been concerned that either a miniature McCoy was inside a normal-sized toilet, or that a regular-sized McCoy was in a massive toilet? Is he treading water or can he stand and touch the bottom? Perhaps he is using a poop as a floatation device? What scenario were you envisioning that had you so worried? Are you sure you aren’t maybe a little psycho?

I’d be careful about associating artistic choices with ‘amateurish’ film making. A lot of brilliant directors and beautiful films have used them to great effect over the last 50 years.

If having lens flares constantly is an “artistic” choice, then the art of filmmaking is in trouble.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said “amateurish.” Instead, I should have said “dumb” filmmaking or “ugly” filmmaking.” But in my opinion, anything that draws attention to the camera/filmmaker and takes the audience out of the experience is “amateurish.”

I’ll be seeing this film on opening day, but if the lens flares are as horrible as they seem to be from our very limited clip sampling, and if the volume really is turned up to 11 throughout as some reviews have said, and if the camera/editing really is as dizzying as some reviews have said (and clips support), and if the humor is on the level of Uhura’s “sex with farm animals” comment, then I’m very unlikely to see the film a second time in the theater. It’s not about canon issues, or the ugly nacelles, or any of that trivial stuff; it’s about whether the experience of watching the film is enjoyable or uncomfortable.

We’ll find out on May 8.
