Trekkie Still – What an AMAZING opportunity! Congrats! I was wondering if the Aptera vehicle(white three wheeled vehicle) actually made the movie in the StarFleet scenes? It is a really cool vehicle that gets 300mpg and looks more like a plane then a car. http://www.aptera.com The movie is going to be way cool by itself but having this vehicle in it as well would put it over the top for us Southern Californians….

I was there. It was interesting to me when the audience was asked who had not seen The Wrath of Khan on a big theater screen and I was one of a very few who did not raise a hand. Those young people will still have to wait–LOL. It was a jaw-dropping, esciting and wonderful surprise. Everything was great–the score, special effects and story line. I feel for those who decided not to go, weren’t there or could not go for whatever reason, including not living in the area. You missed a big deal and a choice of freebies, like the Leonard Nimoy autographed poster I selected over the cap or t-shirt.

How appropriate for die hard Trekkies in Austin, Texas, venturing out for a late show to be honored with the first world premiere. How wild it was, though, to be shown first at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar. Just amazing!

The screenwriters’ talks and Q&As were expecially appreciated. And, Leonard Nimoy’s appearance and wprds were over the top at the beginning alone. I certainly didn’t expect him to still be there and talk after the conclusion of the film, after midnight. After all, as he said (and I knew), he was there in the beginning, in 1965. “Live long and prosper.”

I’m ready and anxious to see it again and again.

Thanks very much to all who made this possible and pulled off this incredible feat.

It’s not a marketing “ploy” because “ploy” implies dishonesty. There is nothing dishonest or underhanded about film promotions and there doesn’t need to be, because everyone likes films and willingly watches trailers.

This, however, is far more than just a promotional stunt. The people behind this film are clearly very passionate about it, and this screening was more of a personal acknowledgement of mutual respect between fans and creators. Perhaps never before have the lines been so blurred between the two?

It’s not a marketing ploy, so much as a brilliant move to get credible sources of positive word-of-mouth and buzz.

Think about it. They got die-hard Trek fans there, with the promise of arguably the best Trek movie of all time: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Instead, they were shown the new Trek movie in its entirety. They knew that they’d have only hardcore Trek fans watching it. So to see this kind of positive reaction only means that it will be more than enjoyable for Trek fans.

We’ve already heard that it’s a great sci-fi action movie in its own right, but now we get confirmation that it’s perfect for Trekkers as well.

“tacky”? No.

It’s called “showbiz” baby, not “curingcancerbiz”, so with the response being what it was, just let it flow out to the people and enjoy the ride along the way.

I almost don’t even care about the film itself at this point…just seeing this major reboot in interest in the franchise itself is enough to make me happy. God bless the internet.

Thank you. I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately and everyone is assuming that it’s just a marketing ploy. I don’t really see it that way since:

A. It was free
B. They’re being shown the actual movie, not a preview
C. There was a nice thank you to the whole crowd.
D. It’s the world premier!
