Of course I’ve seen the movies. Courage’s score was little more than incidental music in those (just used for the “Captain’s Log” entries in TMP). I was obviously talking about the Courage theme getting to be front & center like Giacchino is using it.

What do you expect? Honestly?! The year is 2009. The 60s/70s/80s are gone. Today’s films are safety first, and so is much of the music composed for them, i.e. derivative, uninspired, bland etc.. But I don’t see how you can judge the new Star Trek score from these few clips. At the moment I think it sounds like a mixed bag, but there’s a lot in there that I loved, and lot that is not amateur as you insinuate.

Agree with you about Eidelman, but totally disagree about MG. I truly enjoy what I’ve heard from these clips, and look forward to seeing them in action in a few weeks!
