#57 Wow...you really caused me to have a breakthrough...I mean, its all so clear now...I'm really just deflecting all of my insecurities onto you! It's so obvious!!

Or not!

By the way, I think people are venting their frustrations because it looks like the vast majority of the posters here are excited about this film, and there will always be nitpickers like you, and that's fine...

You see franchises like Star Trek as your own little bubble to live out your illusions, where as the majority of people see it as a wonderful work of creative art...some interpretations are great (WOK), some not so great (Berman et al), but the point is that you probably have never achieved much in your sad little life, and so you take shots at those who have

It is much easier to demean the work of others than produce anything yourself

I am not a rabid fan of Abrams, not by a long shot, but I have no idea what it is to make a film, the amount of work that has to go into it, the time, the stress...the fact is, at least he has contributed something creatively to the world...

Lots of us are excited for this film for a myriad of reasons...personally, I never got to see a worthwhile Trek film in theatres, so it's a big deal for me..

No one said it would be perfect, and you're welcome to nitpick, and I'm still welcome to call you a loser for it...

I'm not trying to hurt you, but if the truth hurts, you're S.O.L.

And by the way, I think it's cute that you refer to your hand as your "wife", and your parents basement as your "house which [you] own, but I really don't need that much information thank you...

And if your mom catches you "having sex with your wife", just tell her you were cleaning it and it went off

Have a great day

And enjoy the film!

55. HesDeadJim - April 21, 2009
In the nicest way possible…move out of your parents bedroom, get laid (fast), and go enjoy the movie for what it is
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm laughing at what you wrote because I just had sex with my wife in the house which I own.
My post above was just mirroring sean's post who was writing about the X-Men Origin, but I changed it to the New Star Trek.
I did not attack sean "the person", but then you turn around and attack me personally.
Your personal attacks on me do NOT hurt me, but I'm sick of you who write personal attacks about people who are attacking a film and not a person like you are doing.
You know what, I think all of you who write personal attacks about people on here are really the ones who the comments you write are about.

25. AJ

From what I've gathered, a studio's take is only about 50-55% of the box office gross. So for instance if a film costs $125 million to make, crossing that threshold wouldn't be enough. Instead, they'd have to make about double that to start to turn a profit (based on box office receipts alone of course).

There are other factors, some of which you've mentioned, but you have to figure that's the break-even point: If a film can do double it's production budget at the box office alone, it stands a very good chance at turning strong profits for the studio (especially when it comes to secondary markets such as DVD).

Then again, if a film has a relatively small budget (say $75M), a solid, but in no ways spectacular, box office take of say $100M is more than enough to help the film along to profitability through secondary revenue streams.

51 - you're talking about a television/film series where humans are somehow able to travel faster than light, travel through time, materialize and dematerialize, where 90% of every extraterrestrial race they've encountered is not only humanoid but conveniently speaks flawless English, and you're worried about hair color and voice intonation?

In the nicest way possible...move out of your parents bedroom, get laid (fast), and go enjoy the movie for what it is

A MOVIE!!!!

"Why would a man wearing a 'Genius At Work' t-shirt watch a show intended for children?"

48. sean - April 20, 2009
None of you are alone. Last Stand was pretty dreadful on its own (and pretty much ruined Xavier as a character), and I’m even less excited about these stand-alone Origin films. Also, are we supposed to believe that Liev Schreiber is going to turn into the same Sabretooth played by Tyler Mane from X-Men?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Star Trek Nemesis was pretty dreadful on its own (and Star Trek Generations pretty much ruined Kirk as a character) and I’m even less excited about this parallel time-line reboot film.
Are we supposed to believe that changing a time-line would turn Kirk's Eyes from brown to blue or Spock from deep voice to not or Scotty with a full head of hair to balding or a jet-black hair Pike to brown and so on....

Wait, can someone answer this question...?

Is Heroes ending? Like, getting cancelled? Not coming back for another season?
