it’s a SHAME, a damn shame that IMAX theatres are now not true IMAX screen size AND you have to pay extra to see something listed as IMAX when in reality it is not true IMAX sized.
It’s like being told you are posted to the Defiant as a Federation starship only to find out it’s part of the Federation but it’s a little ship.

WARNING – Some web research reveals that IMAX may not mean the huge screen that you expect. IMAX has recently entered into a deal with AMC to market its name as IMAX Digital, which has little to do with the super-high-res image and huge screens you expect when you think IMAX. You may go into the theater and encounter a pretty ordinary sized screen.

I wish there was some way that us Star Trek Fan’s? In all those Countries/ States/Provinces/Cities. That for what ever reason were passed up on for the Star Trek Imax Experience??? Could send messages to the higher ups asking them WTF is the reasoning we have all these Imax screens? My Partner and i are huge Trek Fan’s so much so that we have the entire cast of Voyager with guests in original screen used costumes & props. When we heard Trek was going to be on Imax we thought for sure we could see it. The higher ups whom ever they are passed on all of us here in Alberta with 4 screens,” WHY”????

I agree – this is crazy that it’s not in Vancouver (or Alberta for that matter).
Fyi…I saw the movie last Saturday at an advance showing..it is good, but the ending was kind of ..meh. I wanted something clever, not just “oh we’ll flex our muscles and the problem is solved.” Oh well. I also didn’t like Scotty – Simon was too much of a clown. But Kirk, Spock and McCoy were all good. Thumbs up overall.

So very disappointed that star trek is not playing In Vancouver. I was so set on it…. Didn’t want to watch it on regular screens….. But oh well. So upsetting…my favorite movies were seen on the IMAX screen…dark knight, watchmen, 300… Transformers 2 better be in a Vancouver IMAX or I’ll kill someone…

I for one will be boycotting the theater brands that have imax in alberta and going to some other theater to see it on principle alone. I will not shell out my dollers to a company that has IMAX in the provice and is is not playing a movie like this in it.

So disappointed! We have 2 IMAX’S in Edmonton and neither one is playing Star Trek.. Not even in Calgary!! What the hell is this?!??! Big mistake on the promoters part, Alberta is a very rich province and have a lot of people that would gladly shell out good $ to see this movie in IMAX format. For shame!
