Wow, maybe someone could have told me i was featured here xD... i'd like to add that when i made that intro i had about a week of Blender experience, i've been getting a lot more! Check out my channel for my second animation, a Teaser for an upcoming webseries titled "Star Trek: The Early Years"... on which i'm the lead VFX artist now....

Also, if anyone reads this... i might consider making a better looking intro, i've improved alot since. Lets say, if i get 15000 views i'll know the intrest is there and i'll make you all an updated one!

#86. Agreed Checkov doesn't deserve to die, but then neither did Vulcan deserve to be blown up. I said that mainly because that was one of the stated reasons the producers rebooted, so that we wouldn't know who lived or died and they decided to prove how serious they were by blowing up Vulcan. They can't really kill Kirk, Spock or McCoy, nor should they Scotty, so that leaves Uhura (which would be a waste) and Sulu, Checkov and Pike. I have a feeling Pike will eventually get the ax considering how beloved he is, yet dispensable. Wither way they need to get rid of Checkov. There really is no need for his character. I mean, who needs a young Kirk when the captain is ... a young Kirk. I'm really not sure what demographic boy-geniuses appeal to anymore. Could they really produce Doogie Houser MD in this century? Would little girls still really carry Will Wheaton lunch boxes to school? If they keep him, perhaps they should go for the full monty and have him start singing on the ship's intercom like Uhura used to, a la Nick Jonas.

#74 - Although not canon as far as I know, Kirk's mother's name is mentioned in one of the last two novels of the "Lost Years" saga, which I just read a couple weeks ago. Books were published in the early '90's and they do reference Kirk's mom as Winona.

84 RD: "I would prefer they kill off Checkov and replace him with another smart, vital woman on the bridge"

I would rather promote Chekov off the Enterprise, not kill him off - he doesn't derserve *that* :-)
I think we don't need this new Chekov because we already have a comedic side-kick in the new Scotty, and Yelchin wasn't really that good. Yes, he has outlived his usefullness.
In any case, I totally agree that another smart vital woman like No1 on the bridge would be infinitely preferable.

They should have starbucked Chekov, anyway. You know, some subspace-wave-whatever created by the Narada's intrusion disturbed Chekov's conception making him a her instead. Then Katee Sackhoff could have played Tasha Chekov! I'd loved that ;-)

Heathers 2? A bit late, I think. Just like the recent Indy was more than a bit late! But wait...there are folks on this site campaigning for a 80 year old Kirk. ;-)

#75 – I agree about Number One. I would prefer they kill off Checkov and replace him with another smart, vital woman on the bridge (as they attempted to do with Ilia in TMP). With all due respect for Walter Koenig, Checkov has long since outlived his usefulness, and making him a Wesley Krusher-esque wiz-kid is just sad. Checkov was originally meant to really show the diversity and progress man had made by putting a Cold War Soviet nemesis on the ship, as well as getting double their money with a young handsome Beatle-esque/Kirk-in-training character. Unfortunately Anton Yelchin's Checkov accomplishes none of that, with the Soviet Union a distant memory for most and this boy-genius neither boy-band handsome, nor a nascent Kirk. The character needs to be replaced with a more relevant member of the crew – perhaps a modern equivalent substitute: a sexy, Muslim female?

Let's face it, there's still a few too many white male Americans in this Federation.

48: Actually, according to the official site Robau is Cuban, not Arabian. I know the actor's ethnicity is different (his parents were from Pakistan) but ya know, just want to make sure you're informed. I personally loved Robau and thought he was an incredibly capable captain that performed admirably under extreme conditions. Were George Kirk the captain and Robau the first officer it seems very likely that it would have been Kirk killed on the Narada instead. That circumstance wouldn't have made Kirk a less capable officer, would it? Or made Robau any more a hero?

I don't mean to attack you, it's just that I'm a big Robau fan :) And, to be honest, I'm somewhat offended by some of your implications about why people like him. But as you say, we all have differing viewpoints. I think a Kelvin series would be FANTASTIC... that said, it'll never happen in an official capacity. If it's ever created, it'll be fans who make it as a series a la Hidden Frontier or Phase II.
