I just bought the AGT Enterprise D. Never was much of a fan of TNG D, but since I’m a DC-10 (a jet with three engines for those not aviation savvy) crew dawg I just had to have a starship with three engines. That said weather you’re a fan or not, I assure you that when you get this model in your hand it will grow on you fast (so much so that I have to get the two engine version now to play out formation departures from low Earth orbit).

As said previously, for the money this model is big and very well detailed. And if you intend to play with it as you take imaginary journeys around the cosmos, then you will like that it’s sturdy enough to hold as you twirl in circles flying at warp speed. While it’s an inch or so longer than the playmates 2009 Enterprise, it’s twice as wide and heavy with far superior detailing. And if you get it, the model comes with three stand support holes for displaying the saucer and engineering sections separated or the as a complete ship. Personally, I would recommend throwing out the plugs to cover unused stand support holes because you may not get them back out...

Random question, what if the lights burn out? That would stink... but i would have to have them on all day and night for days which obviously i am not going to do.

The saucer batteries are on top, slide the main shuttlebay battery cover off and flip the switch under it. To dep1701 use the display stand peg to wiggle the battery cover off in the bottom of the ship, you know put the peg in and carefully wiggle the cover off while the peg is in the hole.

Mine arrived today - the middle nacelle was broken and the white light over the bridge does not work. UGH! (Not blaming the vendor who shipped it; I'm surprised the factory that puts these together doesn't have as many defects as they should.)

Anyone know how this thing can be disassembled and repaired? I doubt those who manufactured it have a clue...

Growing up in the "TNG" Trek era, I have always loved the design. And its alos obvious that this site is for fans of the "old" Trek and its tinker toy Enterprise. Dont get me wrong, I can respect it, but When I saw Kirk, it was in the movies, and THAT was his Enterprise as far as I was concerned. The one from TOS has always, to me, been an eyesore. The one in the new movie takes eyesore to a new level...but to each their own. If you dislike the Ent-D, dont buy it, I just find it funny you made your way into this thread just to bitch about it.

For $50, this is a terrific model!

While there are a couple of downsides (having aztek panel detail (every other section painted the opposite color like the actual TV show model) and none of the windows lights up), the only thing better than this model form "All Good Things" is a hand-built ERTL kit selling for $1200 on ebay or something.

Oh, the neck detail of the standard 1701-D stands out too much (the example of aztek detail, applied to the neck only, using two too-contrasting paint colors...)

The TNG Enterprise grew on me and the ATG variant is easily the best design ever.

A shame this model doesn't have lighted windows or the aztek panel detailing, but apart from a hand-painted model costing $1000 somewhere, this $50 novelty is an amazingly detailed item.

It reminds me if the old ERTL kit I once built...
