I know the TOS movies were lacking all the extras and director's cuts on the 2 Disc versions. I have to assume it's the same way here.

I am interested in Generations, though. There's a calvalcade of deleted scenes that have never been released on any version to date - there's just TONS of them - including Kirk's parachuting bits. I wonder if any of those will be on these sets?

Will the easter eggs found on the SCE versions of Fist Contact, Insurrection and Nemesis be included on the blu-ray releases? If so, I'm there!!

Have ZERO interest in the new JJ Abrams Trek film, which I thought was awful. But I AM psyched to see Generations, First Contact and Nemesis on Blu Ray!

75. RD

It's funny: I can see a vast difference between HD and SD, yet the wife of one of my friends who has a 50" TV says she can't see any difference, even when wearing glasses, which makes me wonder whether some people's brains aren't wired to see the extra detail.

For example, my Mum and late Grandfather have always had monoscopic vision (they can only see out of one eye at a time) meaning 3D is useless to them.

My friend's wife is extremely intelligent and certainly not an idiot where technical stuff is involved, so I really think there might be more to it than people being deluded.

As for me, I'm loving my 1080p TV with Blu-ray player

What I would really like to see are the deleted scenes from TOS.

Considering the trouble finding The Cage pilot presentation masters, I would imagine some of this stuff would be almost impossible. Like the Recreation Room scene that was shot, but cut from "Elaan of Troyius", where Kirk asks Spock to play some music over the intercom to help him seduce the Elaan.

Or the numerous scenes from Friday's Child, The Savage Curtain, Mudd's Women, The Corbomite Maneuver, The Galileo 7, Spectre of the Gun, Court
Martial, This Side of Paradise, Operation: Annihilate!, Errand of Mercy, Catspaw, City on the Edge of Forever, I, Mudd, Spock's Brain, Assignment Earth, and Balance of Terror – or even the additional scenes that were cut from The Cage.

I got an idea!

I say Trekmovie.com should have a fan commentary section on the site! Anyone who can submit their own commentary so there won't be anymore discriminating against the fan commentary tracks on these discs.

With all due respect, you need to get your eyes checked.

Seriously, I understand what you are saying, but there is a VAST difference in clarity between SD & HD. So much so, that I can't even watch SD anymore. The whole screen just looks soft and blurry, no matter the distance. I have some better, enhanced, DVDs and some worse, and there are some better and worse SD broadcasts. Mind you, this is on a flat screen LCD – SD was actually equally acceptable on my old CRT. My LCD is not even 1080p, I cannot imagine how bad it would look with even higher resolution and even larger screen.

Of course levels of acceptability are a matter of personal taste, and I hope anyone thinking of upgrading would first use their own common sense to compare before jumping off the deep end, rather than merely accepting your experience with Blu-Ray, or mine. In particular I did not see enough of a difference between 720p & 1080p to invest in the more expensive technology, though I can see the difference, it merely wasn't enough to persuade me to part with more cash.

Let me leave you with this example: TWOK was recently on HBO HD. I have the DVD of it. However, I will keep it on my DVR, taking up space, until I upgrade to Blu-Ray, because I will most likely never watch that DVD again. I don't even have my non-HD channels in the menu, because I won't watch them. But that's me.

After repeated viewings, "Generations" has quite a few good Star Trek moments. IMO, better than "Insurrection" and "Nemesis" (would love to have Nick Myer do a commentary on that film: NICK "Oh that is where they stole from my film...")
Soran is definitely a better villain than most think. I also loved the music entitled "The Nexus / A Christmas Hug".

Breaks my heart when Kirk talks about the clock and he says "I gave this clock to Bones." Shatner’s Kirk should have died like George Kirk did in Star Trek.
