I downloaded the first three eps of Defying Gravity for free on iTunes and really enjoyed it. ITunes is now charging 1.99 per ep but I will download it anyway. It's really quite good-interesting, mysterious, with very good character development.

25

I have no problem with Routh, it's just that he is so locked on to the Christopher Reeve portrayal with the old school namsy-pansy Clark Kent.

Kent has been portrayed as his own man for quite some time now, even going back before Lois and Clark in the 90s.

Reeve and Routh played Superman for real and Kent as the fiction.
Welling and Cain played Kent as the real person and Big Blue as the fiction.
I just like the second way better and Welling is more likely to pull that off.
BTW, I am no huge Smallvile fan, I tune in now and then.

Defying Gravity left me cold.
Virtuality was actually better despite having comparably irritating characters.
Effects looked good. Science was utterly absurd. 2001 it IS NOT.
Oh well.

"Co-creator Brad Wright revealed to CinemaSpy that MGM has upped the show’s budget a full $1 million over what they had to work with on "Stargate Atlantis". "

This makes me REALLY angry. They said they cancelled Stargate Atlantis because it costs too much and a new Stargate series would be cheaper. AND NOW THAT! THEY ARE ALL LIARS!

And the sad thing is that I really doubt that Stargate Universe will be anywhere as good as Stargate Atlantis despite its big budget. Battlestar Voyager 90210 would be a good name for it. I don't care that the ideas are unoriginal because after a few decades of TV, there practically aren't any original ideas left anymore.

My problem is that I really dislike Battlestar Galactica and series like 90210 and Grey’s Anatomy. Gritty, depressive, pseudo-realistic scifi TV shows without fun and humour are not my thing. And series which only go on and on about who sleeps with whom and who hates whom in various combinations are even worse. So I see the changes in Stargate Universe as a really bad thing. I don't see what is so bad about having main characters who LIKE each other and at the same time are not sleeping which each other in VARIOUS combinations.

Star Trek was pitched as "Horatio Hornblower in space" or a "Wagon Train to the Stars" Star Wars looked to push the envelope in terms of effects and storytelling, a new "Space Opera". Defying Gravity pitched as... grey's anatomy in space. Sigh, ugh, arrrgh. Why? Since I lost track of LOST ABC still hasn't given me one good reason to tune in to their channel... ever.

#9... Smallville is it's own little world. They have him interacting with everyone and everything he ever did as Superman, just earlier and without the suit... even Doomday if you can believe it. Routh is my Superman (sonce CR) and I hope and pray they use him in the new reboot that is being fast-tracked now.

Sorry, Smallville-ites, just one man's opinion.
