I guess the new Enterprise was faithful enough to the original but I really hated the nacelles on the new designed Enterprise.

I felt they were too chubbyand I prefer the more streamlined Cylindrical ones from TOS and the angular ones from the first 6 movies.

Hope this make sense?

This might sound weird but when I see the phasers, communicators and tricorders from the new movie, I have to say I still think the props designed in the 60s were a lot better.

The phaser in the new movie looked like a ray gun and was toned down and was not as complex with variable settings as it was in TOS. I still feel the 60s design looked more functional.

Just proves that in the 60s they were ahead of its time.

It's so sweet to me that the corporations in power have chosen to do this book.

There were so many incredibly talented people involved in this movie,
and that a strong collection of them in my world get a some serious recognition makes me happy indeed. You know who you are. I so loved working with you.

Cheers to all the brave, strong, gifted folks who worked on Star Trek with us. You are individually and all together beyond awesome.

Live long and, well, you know the rest...

Im looking forward to the book as a lot Church's renders were a lot more faithful to the 'feel' of TOS until, as mentioned above, someone felt the need to put in their 2 cents so they could feel like somehow they had a part in it. Sadly, they DO.
Look at all the behind the scenes stuff from Star Wars where GL walks through with his red stamp and says 'I want this one combined with this one and this one.: A lot of times Im far more impressed with what DIDNT make it to screen then with what did and this is the case with what Ive seen from this movie.
For instance, saying that the NEW phasers look 'more functional' then the 60s version is a joke not to mention the Kelvin phasers (blessedly omitted from the film) that used a knurled BMX peg for the grip. When you look at the classic phaser it STILL holds up whereas the new phaser was designed to be marketed as a new toy in shiny chrome. Nothing more. Its soulless.
The inside of the Kelvin didnt look futuristic it looked anachronistic as did the bowels of Enterprise. There was all this reasoning that the 60s designs looked 'dated' well how is using an old brewery for engineering a solution? At least the original sets were original. If I wanted low budget solutions for sets Id watch the SyFy channel. Im hoping the sequel addresses this since hopefully they will have some of their budget freed up.
I enjoyed the movie but there was a lot of room for improvement and Im hoping that the 'Supreme Court' realizes there were things they couldve done better both in form and substance.
