This week, we visit with Captain Nero of the Romulan mining ship Narada, after a particularly bad day in a black hole, courtesy of IDW Publishing, with their first issue of the Star Trek Nero mini-series. Saturday at the Creation Star Trek Convention was just jammed pack with Star Trek celebrities. The day included a number of guest actors from the Star Trek feature films, including Christopher LLoyd, as well as stars from all eras of Trek, with George Takei, Linda Park and a whole panel of Voyager stars. On Friday we reported that there was a new art of the Star Trek movie book coming in November, just in time for the release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray. Today Titan Books sent us some more detailed information on the coffe-table book, along with a high resolution version of the cover.

Star Trek scribes Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman have another sequel update from the TCA event this week (promoting Fringe). Regarding the Trek sequel, they corrected Zoe Saldana’s recent estimate that the script was ‘half done’, again noting they haven’t started yet. JJ Abrams is ramping things up for another big franchise at Paramount, with news just announced that he has hired writers for a fourth Mission Impossible film, with Abrams on board to co-produce with Tom Cruise. Like the next Star Trek film, Mission: Impossible: IV is aimed for a 2011 release.
