Press Release

STAR TREK®: D-A-C FROM PARAMOUNT DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT – COMING TO WINDOWS PC AND PLAYSTATION®NETWORK IN NOVEMBER

LOS ANGELES – Sept. 9, 2009 – Paramount Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Interactive, CBS and Naked Sky Entertainment today announced that Star Trek®: D-A-C will be available for Windows PC and PlayStation®Network players in November. Inspired by the recent blockbuster “Star Trek” motion picture from Paramount Pictures, Star Trek: D-A-C is a fast-paced, top-down space shooter where players take the captain’s chair and engage in intense online multiplayer or co-op battles. Pick up and play in your favorite starship and lead your team to victory!

Currently available on the Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the new Windows PC and PlayStation Network version of Star Trek: D-A-C will both feature exclusive new content, including two new ship classes, a new game mode, several new pick-ups, a new map for assault mode, and more. On the PC, the game will also be 3D compatible with the Nvidia® 3D VisionTM 3D stereoscopic experience. Star Trek: D-A-C will be available for PC users to download through Valve’s Steam distribution service.

Star Trek: D-A-C allows fans to directly control a variety of ships and pitch battles between Starfleet and the Romulan Empire. Up to 12 players can compete in thrilling team combat. There are three game play modes: Single player, online multiplayer and online co-op. For each mode, there are four different game types – Team Assault, DeathMatch, Conquest, and the all-new Survival mode, pitting players against increasingly overwhelming waves of enemies in order to set the record for survival time.

Players can now choose from five ship types for each faction – the all-new Missile Corvette, all-new Support Frigate, Bomber, Fighter and Flagship – with each ship offering unique capabilities for players to master and manipulate as they fight for victory. The Missile Corvette, a heavy artillery ship features a longer range than any other ship in the game, but vulnerable to close range attacks due to a low rate of fire and slower flight speed. The Support Frigate allows players to heal friendly ships and easily target escape pods. The nimble Bomber speeds in and out of battles, dropping bombs in its wake. The Fighter attacks ships head-on, blasting missiles and dodging attacks. The durable Flagship allows players to target enemies with a reticule and inflict damage on incoming ships with its shields. The Starfleet Flagship is the U.S.S. Enterprise™ featured in the new “Star Trek” film.

In addition to featuring the new U.S.S. Enterprise, Star Trek: D-A-C incorporates music and signature sounds taken directly from the new “Star Trek” film.

Star Trek: D-A-C is currently available on the Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360. It is scheduled for release on Windows PC and PlayStation Network in November. The game is rated “E” by the ESRB.

Great!!

Already knew it was coming but it’s nice to have a time frame.

Looking forward to this game!!!!

I hope they’re not considering pricing this P.O.S. game for more than $5 – it’s not worth any more than that.

Nice to hear that it is finally coming to PC.

Why dont they make a Bridge Commander -esque game, instead of this junk?

Sweet! And it looks like they have a Refit Kelvin-Class ship too! Sweet deal!

JJ verse Sucks. Fail.

Sad.

At this point they are just trying to squeeze a little more cash out of the license. There is no reason the PC port should not have been ready at the launch of the Xbox version.

As for price, 4.99 on Steam is about the most anyone should be expected to pay.

Reminds me a bit of Ambrosia’s Escape Velocity. I used to play that for hours. Days, even. That said, I hope it’s not too complex! It’s no fun for us fossils if we can’t figure out how to play it. :-)

You know what would be even MORE cooler, is to figure out a way to get the camera angle to be BEHIND the ship instead of a top down view.

I’ll consider getting this if its a tenner or less.

Otherwise, I’ll wait until it is that low.

i have to agree

I have to agree

Like the new movie, it’s all about the action and not the substance.

“PSN”? What does that mean?
Anything more specific? Like “PS3 or PSP?”
(/ never used the service before)

Why not an actual game for the new Star Trek movie? make it really cool, or make it a Game that ties the first movie to the second one released in 2011

this game is pretty weak

Is that DS-9 being constructed in the first frame?

zap! pow! pwing!

I think I’ll stick with the king of this type of game…the original Asteroids.

Throwing more artwork on a shoot-em-up doesn’t do anything for me.

Sure looks like it. There’s even a little wormhole-like thing beneath it!

15. PSN = Playstation Network. It refers to the downloadable content for PS3 as opposed to a physical disk. I suppose it is possible to come out for PSP as well, but who knows.

I have the version for Iphone by Electronic Arts, its pretty sad.

It’s an arcade game folks. Nothing more. The amount of threadcrapping in this article…sheesh.

5 – why would they remake bridge commander when it is already a released game? And with Star Trek Online coming out? This is just a fun shooter…it was never meant to be a “big” game. That is what STO will be.

16 – they don’t want to compete with Star Trek: Online which is set to release in 2010 and has been years in the making.

This is meant to be just a fun, multiplayer game where you can just pick up the controller and shoot things for a few minutes.

#23 has some good points and the “WE WANT MORE BC” people would do well to consider it.

@23

Just a straight game where you shoot at things. That sure sounds like A game worthy of the title Star Trek.

I still think and action RPG along the lines of a Fallout 3 would be the best format for a Star Trek game.

I might just get this for the fun of it.

I’m not normally a gamer, but it looks like a fun way to waste a little time with a slight Trek 2009 vibe.

Bridge-Commander-Esque, hmm, what might that mean??? Perhaps a game SIMILAR to Bridge Commander, yet, not Bridge Commander itself! It is not remaking it, because it would not be Bridge Commander! It would be re-imagining it! LOL! As for STO there are some of us who do not play online games and like to pop a disc into the system, and STO does not look all that good…

25 – I didn’t make the game. I was just stating what the purpose was in the design of the game.

28 – Indeed, although it wouldn’t be wise business to create a game that is similar to one that has already been released for a minority of people who won’t want to play the new online game so enjoy playing BC because I doubt we’ll have any new substantial disc-based Trek games for a long time after STO. I think STO looks way better than any Trek game out there but we’ll see about gameplay. I loved a lot of old system Trek games, like the ones on Nintendo, Sega, SNES, etc. but there have already been a number of video game authorities who have commented on how great the graphics are and that the space battles are the best they have seen. Sounds good to me!

I still need to know what the hell D-A-C means…

It’s just pointless. It should be a freebie that comes with an ACTUAL game …

31 – it’s 14 dollars…that practically is free! lol

SOOOOOOOO looking forward to playing as the Kelvin refit!!!

Easily, the best and most realistic looking starfleet vessel ver

I have to agree with most, this game is pretty lame.

@27: Agreed, it doesn’t look very substantial, but it might be a pleasant way to kill an hour or two.

@22: “threadcrapping”? Sounds horrible, yet frighteningly accurate.

@26: Yes, yes, and a thousand time yes. We need a game like this.

LOL, this new Trek game is just as hollow and dumbed down compared to other Trek games as the new Trek movie is compared to the other Trek movies. But undoubtedly it will sell much better than any of those, just like the movie did.

yawn!

i wouldn’t even pay $5 for this. Every demo/trailer i’ve seen looked boring within 10 secs.

I miss the days of star trek voyager elite force and star trek elite force 2. Those were AWSOME games. They should have made something like that for the movie. Maybe they thought if they put the name star trek on it that we would buy it, but i’m not falling for it.

Is this the same game that will have teaser propmo’s on the Trek Movie Bluray for Pc/Mac? Even more reason, the 3rd disc is LAME and a waste of added expense , along w/ thw worthless digital copy of the film!

The game is the poster child for cheap cash-ins. Boring, awful, and if it weren’t for the E flying around, you wouldn’t even know it was related to Trek. Save your money.

Another game like BC or Klingon Academy would be brilliant.

This game is cheap garbage, no avid gamer would pay for this trash.

IMO, Bridge Commander remains the best ever Star Trek experience

With those terrible graphics, it should be a free download.

Finally! Showing some love for the PS3! I’ll bet it will look pretty good on that system!

Learn how to mod your install of Bridge Commander and it can be like a brand new Bridge Commander-esque game.

They have waited too long to release this on the PSN IMO. After all the negative reviews from the Xbox version, I doubt I will even consider buying this, especially if it is $14.99 like the Xbox version was when it came out.

This is a total joke. I just bought Gratuitous Space Battles – an indie game made on God knows what kind of small budget – and it blows this ridiculous piece of crap out of the water.

Honestly, guys.

Cool. So the Kelvin-type starship will be playable, as well as the new Enterprise.

I hope that this game is compatable with 32-bit Windows…
