The Incredibles was about a nuclear family. FF isn't like that at all. All superheroes in the former look human. That's only true for three FFers. No one in the FF has superspeed. ....

Saying that "The Incredibles" is a "better Fantastic Four film" doesn't make sense, IMO.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I thought Indy 4 was ok. Better than 2, maybe better than 3....

I'm probably also in the minority because I thought the 2nd and 3rd Pirates movies sucked. Even the first one was just barely above ok.... like a B -. I wanted to get up and walk out of the third one, but I was at home, and the significant other seemed to like it.... :) Maybe the 4th will redeem the series...

For all the pre-Indy 4 talk about how Harrison Ford was getting too old to play Indy, I really was glad to see him shine as Indiana Jones again - he was totally freaking believable and kicked ass.

What killed Indy 4 wasn't the gray in Ford's hair - it was the incomprehensible plot and generally bad writing! It's sad to say, but for all of Ford's physical training, discipline, and overall A-game that he brought to the screen - it felt like Lucas\Spielberg just phoned in their end of the work from some golf course somewhere!

I will send a magical internet thought-beam to Lucas\Speilberg in the hopes that I'm not alone in thinking this and someone will eventually get the hint across to them before they move forward on another fridge-nuking: Your iconic 70-year-old leading man is willing to bust his behind at the gym day after day and generally do whatever it takes short of selling his soul to the devil (as far as we know) to bring his best possible presence to a project - that's a completely priceless and irreplaceable asset that the gods of cinema will not forgive the squandering of on account of bad writing and endless cartoonish sight gags.

Moving on now - my own Indiana Jones thoughts.

I know that Indiana Jones is something of an amalgam of 30's action\adventure serials, but with Indy getting older it might be interesting to see a little more of the film noir elements glimpsed at in the first three Indy films. As we all know, the film noir genre has pretty much been the playground of iconic butt-kickers over the age of 50 since before Hitchcock, and their leading men tend to always have a certain grace to them. I had some mixed feelings on Indy as the socially awkward fish out of water in the 1950's because the first three films depicts him as having many friends (and enemies) all over the world, and it was something of a hard sell to believe that someone as social as Indy would be as isolated as he was at the outset of Crystal Skull. Should Indy 5 go through I think I could certainly do with less of the 1950's socially awkward Indy and have an easier time believing in a 1950's Indy tinted with a few more shades of grace a la James Stewart from 1958's Vertigo.

I know that Lucas\Spielberg were wanting to do some funky genre mash-ups for Indy 4, which of course led to them doing a hybrid of 30's adventure serials and 50's sci-fi - so why not do something more film-noir for the next one and give us an Indy adventure we can actually recognize while still keeping him in the 1950's you know? Lucas and Spielberg will be hard pressed to stay on task and keep their project from nuking the fridge either way. Here's hoping they can take a tip from Harrison Ford and find a writers gym to tone up their next story.

#34 - Mr. Atoz "The Kato pic looks awful"

I think if you follow the link to "Superhero Hype" and read the captions, you'll find that the pic of "Kato" at the wheel is the stunt double.

#16 - Simon "Akiva Goldsman? People like to blame Joel Schumacher for “Batman & Robin” but Goldsman *wrote* the thing"

Let's not forget the wonderful job he did "rebooting" "Lost In Space"
(Sarcasm Mode Cancel)

Yeah - He booted it straight onto the junk pile... (Oh the pain, the pain...)

Holy comic books.

As for Indy 5............................

I'd see it. But God, they need to do something to improve on Crystal Skull. (Shouldn't be hard, guys.)
