Anyone here happen to actually listen to the 5.1 dolby? The front speaker sounds are in the rear and the rear sound goes to the front on every movie in every sound system I have tried them in….

Bring back STAR WARS circa…oh…I don’t know…late 70’s?

That was back when you had to actually work to make good space movies.

People will be remembering AND watching those films with awe and inspiration LONG after fruity-tootie, goofy as ass, WAY OVER PRODUCED STAR TREK “rehashes” have long since turned to dust.

Poor Gene…outta the equation…into the toilet. Just he way Hollywood want’s it. Remember…the new movie was marketed towards 15 year olds. After all, they grew up with Star Trek TOS and TNG. Oh wait…no…no they didn’t. Oops…?

Oh NO! Don’t worry…Blu Ray will save us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow…it’s…it’s slightly better than a regular DVD…OMG?. THE FUTURE IS HERE…GENE RODDENBERRY IS DEAD…!!!!

Just look at all the extra stuff…wowee…hosting and comentary!!!!!!!!!!! By some…who? Some author? Who?

It’s the DRM Anthony. I’ve cycled through tons of BluRays and it’s always different. Encryption is in itself, a process. And you know how paranoid some studios are about good people ripping the DVDs. God forbid you rip’em for review purposes.

Also, thank you Anthony for the Crusher comment in First Contact during Picard’s breakdown. I understand that making a character for the audience can identify with is important, but at the same time, what’s preventing Crusher from being any more identifiable? What they did was just take the EASY way out. Just because she has a ‘history’ doesn’t mean we won’t get it.

Jim there are three models of PS3 that support backwards compatibility with the PS2. None of them are in production anymore but you could probably still buy one on Ebay or the like but it won’t likely be cheap.

The PS3 does up convert DVD’s and you can connect it to the internet via cable or WiFi so you can easily update the firmware.

Seriously, why does it take 30 seconds to start a movie? What the hell is loading that needs 30 seconds? A “Paramount High Definition animated logo (which is not skipable).”

With Blu-Ray there is just a lot more data to load. The standard bitrate for a DVD is around 5-6 Megabytes per second. A Blu-Ray usually does around 15-16 MBPS. The player pre-loads some of the data so it runs smoother.

hey ps3 experts—if i get a ps3-i know the newest one for 299 does not play ps2 games-is a model still being sold that does play ps2 and is the blu ray for that player up to date firmware ets does it upconvert regular dvds? and how much does it cost? would an old used one do that if so which one or ones for how much? thanx for any help-
