On today’s (January 12, 2010) Howard Stern Show (Sirius Radio), Howard had guest William Shatner in the studio. George Takei was on the telephone and all three agreed to sit down on the set of Shatner’s Raw Nerve TV Show and talk it out. Takei would only agree to go on Raw Nerve if Stern were there to mediate. Date to be announced for this 3-way interview.

George is a nice guy. Shatner is decidedly NOT a nice guy. Jerks like The Shat don’t suddenly become pussycats after the end of 8 decades. He’s hopeless.

OMG…I went to SKY and listened….my my George…I suppose if Bill were to appear on Howard Stern’s show I would “applaud his b@lls,” as well.

I almost fell off my chair at the helm when I heard George say that…lol.

I strongly suspect that the feud is around 90 – 99 percent hoax/publicity stunt.

It all comes down to jealousy…pure and simple. Everything the Shatman does turns to gold and Takei can’t stand it. Bill has had sucessful TV series, Takei has never because who would watch it with himself as the leading man. Bill has had some of the highest selling books related to Trek and Tek and other subjects, don’t believe I’ve ever seen a book with Takei’s name on the cover.

Takei has been pushing the studio for years…almost to the point that you feel sorry for the man because he keeps beatin’ that dead horse…to get a Captain Sulu movie or TV series, but as I said above they know he’s not bankable.

It is really sad that Bill has at least tried to appease to whatever Takei’s problem is…And what it really boils down to is this is all Takei has. It’s like the people who say that can’t do this or can’t do that or think the government owes them something. I don’t believe in can’t when there are too many possibilities and if you want something bad enough you find a way to earn it and get it. Does Takei think Bill owes him something? Why?

Why hasn’t Takei used all this energy and done something positive with it instead?

#7 has it right. Funny, I never see Shatner going around bashing anyone; only Takei and various others who are supposedly so much better than him do that. At least Shatner is entertaining. Takei has really milked his bit part for all it’s worth, I’ll give him that.

I don’t know why Takei still seeks attention. These publicity stunts should be beneath him by now.

He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun (knighted) by the Japanese Emperor in 2004. He has an asteroid named after him. Surely that’s more than enough praise for an actor best known for a small role in a campy 1960s science fiction show.

I love Star Trek as much as the next nerd.

But come on, if I got the title “Sir” for being on a bloody television show, I’d count my blessings and leave it at that.

Takei really needs to get over the fact that if he’d never been in Star Trek, nobody would have noticed the difference. He was a bit player. This “feud” is just rather sad, really.
