#61.,

I believe Spock passed away too, but that didn't stop him.

Once that genii's out of the bottle, it's awfully hard to stuff it back into it.

Besides, people (J.J. especially) are thinking too three-dimensionally: there are always possibilities.

Awesome to see William Shatner accpeting the Ultimate Scream for STAR TREK! :)

A very funny, good natured speech. Great to see that he can see the lighter side of not being in the movie and that he was able to joke with JJ Abrams during the acceptance speech. As not only a Trekkie but also as a William Shatner fan the next best thing to seeing him in the movie was seeing him accept an award for the movie, it was a very nice touch I thought.

Congratulations to STAR TREK for taking out 6 Scream awards which is absolutely amazing! Scream 2009 airs on te Sci Fi channel here in Australia in a week and I look forward to watching it!

I suspect as well that William Shatner has in fact seen the movie but he's trying to keep the gag going as long as possible.

Shatner needs to be in the next movie and not as an older version of Alternate Timeline Kirk, but as Prime Timeline Kirk. This could be used for the story. Both universes collide and are about to be destroyed because something Kirk and Spock did in both universes. Something they did in the alternate universe should have been done the way they did it in the Prime universe and now a catastrophe is threatening to destroy both timelines. And only Spock Prime, Alternate Spock and Kirk Prime and Alternate Kirk can stop this catastrophe. But in order for the universe to be rescued, they need to resurrect Prime Kirk.

The movie could start with the accident happening. During a mission, in order to save a starsystem, Kirk and Spock trigger something, maybe they create some kind of black hole or anomaly which is the only way to save the star system. Everything looks ok when they return home to earth where Kirk is commended for some of his deeds (here some events from TOS season one could be mentioned e.g. dealing with Khan, or the situation of Organia...). Then the universe begins to tear itself apart and Spock Prime appears, telling that in his universe Kirk and he dealt differently with the situation and that this must have somehow connected the universes and is now destroying them. Only he, Prime Kirk and the Alternate selfs can save the timelines. But prime Kirk is dead so they have to find a way to resurrect him...

13. CmdrR - October 26, 2009
A nice flash forward (or some such) of no more than three minutes. That’s all we need. Please, Bill, JJ, don’t kill the next movie by forcing an 80 year old Kirk on us. There are wonderful ways to tip the hat WITHOUT trying to recapture past glories

Why is age so important? Nimoy is older than Shatner and he did just fine in ST11. Harrison Fords older Indy was kick ass, Christopher Lee as Dooku and Saruman was brilliant. Its not like he's going to get into a fist fight or get it on with Orion Slave girl. Yeah in ST6, he kissed Martia, but it was appropriate because it was the last mission and a tip of the hat to the Kirk character.

There is nothing wrong with him returning in an elder role such as Nimoy did, and to have him Finally, TRULY pass the torch to a new ST franchise that has a deep respect for TOS. Not thrown off the side of cliff, like a red shirt, and laughed at by Berman and company.

I hope he's in ST12 and that it would in some way be an apology for Generations, as I know many Shatner fans (including my self) , have felt alienated from the franchise ever since. Although ST11 made great strides to heal the rift, it didn't actually have Shatner in it, so there is still some angst.

As a TOS fan, I need to see him get back on the screen one more time, so he can pass the torch the way it was meant to be.

Just my opinion

18. Flake - October 26, 2009
All together now…………………

NO BILL SHATNER IN TREK XII

PLEASE GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FROM HELLS HEART STAB AT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Your quoting from the most classic star trek film ever made, that Shatner played in, that was the inspiration for ST11, and you are using that quote to justify your arguement that the man who played the lead role in that classic film should not be included in its sequel ST12?

Have you even watched an episode of Star Trek? Do you even know what it means when Spock says "illogical"?

BTW - You and the handful of people who share these tasteless opinions about Shatner are in the small minority. So yell it out loud and proud with your buddies over there, but none of the remaining majority of fans who want Shatner in ST12 will be listening. Neither will J.J. Sorry

JJ, Bob, Alex, if you can find a natural (or 'organic, if you prefer) way to get Bill Shatner into Star Trek: Something Something, then go for it! Don't be intimidated by the haters. A good plot is *key*, however. I count myself as big Shatner fan, but even I would look askance at something that was obviously contrived, or didn't belong to the rest of the story in any meaningful way. But, if you can come up with a cool enough plot, Shatner will only make it better.

Good luck!
