I've gotten color printouts of all Vanguard 5 covers, had them framed, and put them on my wall. I cannot claim that for any other Trek series so far.

Kind of looks like a Lightwave render from about 10 years ago. Too many lens flares and not enough radiosity. Sorry to be picky, but I've seen quite a few of these kinds of covers recently and to be perfectly honest, they're just not that good.

#8 - I agree, even on the large-scale image it is not clear that it's not 1895.

Not sure why the "47" is reversed though.

9, it won't be discernable on the book cover, but it is if you click the image, then when it opens on its own page, left click on it again to enlarge. It's a trivial thing, but picking over trivial things is the hallmark of a Star Trek fan! :D

"Vanguard" is currently my favorite Trek series. It's been consistently superb. Big applause for David Mack, Dayton Ward, and Kevin Dilmore!

#8 - When was the last time you tried a Trek book at all? There's been a large number of very good to just plain superb stories since Dreadnought!, so I'd very much encourage you to check 'em out, and "Vanguard" would be a great place to start.
