Oh my.

I do enjoy reading all of the positive comments here (and the Award for 'Makes Most Sense, goes to #50). Not to be offensive, but every one of the shows had their incredible aspects and their...didIjustseethat*facepalm* moments.

For TOS, the sense of wonder and heroism was in abundance (and one of my favorite aspects), as well as a slew of amazing characters. Their problem, it felt like someone from the future jumped back with a ST script and decided to make a parody series out of it. Not to say that TOS was awful--it just ran on a great many cliches.

For TNG, it had the diplomacy. "Alright, so, we explored the galaxy in the previous series and mucked up a great deal of tension, what do we do with it?" The writers used what they had and created stand alone episodes that displayed morality along with diplomacy. The individual heroism and god-mongering was gone, but that's okay. Their problem: Odd acting, over abundance of Mary Sues and Gary Stus, and perfect endings.

DS9 functioned off of the idea that peace doesn't last forever. TNG explored making it, natrually, DS9 was going to explore breaking it. The series ran as a saga, which I felt was a first for ST, and again, we had a broader-stronger group of characters. Now, maybe not all the viewers like all the characters, but there are some you AREN'T supposed to, so that's okay. Their problem: Worm-Hole Deities, the 'largest' soap opera vibe of any ST show, and a pretty cruddy ending.

VOY, with stuff in the Alpha Quadrant getting ready to hit the fan, they needed a series to be separated from all of that. The initial premise of the show was--not very original--but it worked. It gave females strong roles, showed than men could play second to that WELL, and had some pretty amazing episodes (Year of Hell, Killing Game, Tenor Tinker Doctor Spy, etc.). Kate Mulgrew was a wonderful actress (and it showed more clearly in the first four seasons, before the Borg played like the Beatles and invaded the show). While not all of the characters were strong, they were likable (for the most part, Neelix...eeehhh...he had his moments). While the previous shows were about: exploration, diplomacy, then war--this one was about family. Their problem: Their writers (Jeri Taylor butchered Chakotay), their love of time-travel, their under-use of potentially great characters (Tuvok, Chakotay, B'Elanna and Tom). Oh yes, bad ending as well.

ENT, it was a great idea, but they shouldn't have started it when they did. We looped back to exploration and heroism, etc. but it was a time when fans wanted to know what the hell was going on in the Alpha Quadrant. Fans wanted answers--and I believe had ENT come at any other time, it may have been more well received. Good characters, good acting, good special effects. The greatest thing it lacked was the interest of the audience. I don't know about you, but I wanted to know what happened to Voyager and the characters of DS9. Oh yes, and I wanted to know how the Federation was going to pick up the pieces.

Perhaps it was because I started watching the shows when I was five--or that my brother was a Trek-encyclopedia, but I became a fan of them all. It's about the stories (and sure, some of the stories were awful), and the wonder of it all. Too often people mistake the writer's mistakes for the actor's mistakes (I doubt Mulgrew wanted Janeway to become so autonomic).

All-in-all, if they could find a way to put Mulgrew and Stewart in a movie, and it actually WORKED, I'd be happy. Trek has a history of giving odes to the past series--TOS certainly deserved the ones it received--so why complain if the others get it as well? Stop being so negative--it's okay to look at the bad, but it's not okay to refuse to look at the good.

Put Kate as a descendent of an actress who used to be a captain in a 21st century tv series called startrek, and bill as guy who was replaced by a youger one, as captain of a star ship, an they meet at a bar, they talk, and are kiled by a guy called KickAss Picard

Kate & Bill haven't seen the film..........

a lot of fans would have loved to hear their comments on the 09 movie, but instead, they, (Kate & Bill) hussle for a part in the next one,

I'd rather have Berman produce the next one, as long as Kate & Bill arn't in it

they can go & fuxx

I think Kate is perfect for the voice of the Enterprise new computer. Her voice is close to Majel Roddenberry. Although, Startrek Voyager wasn't a good Trek show, but her acting performance is excellent.

I say give her a go.
