80. doug_skywalker

Yeah, I was thinking specifically of Trek-related actors. The animated series' stories are decent Trek tales mainly overlooked because of the low-budget nature of the animation and Gene Roddenberry's later dismissal of them.

Still, since I don't consider Gene Roddenberry to be the sole authority on Star Trek, I regard TAS to be just as relevant to 'canon' (hate that word and so glad the new film annihilated 'canon') as any of the movies. Indeed, TAS seems very much a bridge between TOS and the eventual movies.

@79 Dom-

Patrick Stewart as Commodore April? i can;t see that for some reason. Now Ian Mckellan, Bernard Hill, or Hugo Weaving could work as the venerable Commodore. and actaully, it'd be interesting if they kept Arex. they could replace him with a CG Chekov voiced by Walter Koenig (Tony Daniles still voices C-3PO). Personally, I think they could make the Counter-Clock Incident, as well as all the other ST: TAS episodes, a bit longer as I've always felt that they were a bit rushed.

seriuosly though, an CG Star Trek: Reanimated would ROCK!

77. Captain Robert April

I'm hoping for a 'Star Trek: Reanimated' to exist alongside Star Trek: Remastered. Use the original cast's voice work, state-of-the-art CGI, referencing the TOS episodes for mouth movements and expressions, all-TOS music and get some more guest voice actors to complement the work which originally had to be done by James Doohan and Majel Barrett - perhaps cast Patrick Stewart as Robert April's voice, for example.

Quite honestly, I'm staggered that there hasn't been a cartoon series based on the new Star Trek movie launched.

Howzabout a joint Pixar/CBS Digital production of TAS? Supposedly, a typical TAS script was around 40 pages, which nowadays equals an hour long episode, so I think it might be feasible to reedit one of those suckers into an hour episode.

Hell, it's not like it'd be aired, so who really cares what the runtime would be? Just so long as they improve the product.

It's about damn time they dug up the unaired version of WNMHGB. I was about to dig up my bootleg VHS and do my own transfer (hell, I might anyway, since it's gonna be awhile before I can manage a Blu-Ray player).

#61--I agree totally! The Sci-Fi Channel Special Edition features were great! I was able to record most of them on VHS when Shatner hosted but missed the Nimoy hosted versions.

I am really surprised that someone at Sci-Fi or whoever owns the rights has not released them as I am sure the $$$ would be a great incentive especially at this time.

Alas, I forget the reason they haven't but it seems it was some sort of exclusive content rights that has prevented their re-emergence since the original airing on Sci-Fi.

The "1970s"-style act breaks alluded to are the many well-remembered Quinn Martin detective series of the '70s, but he already used that treatment several times in the '60s with shows like The Fugitive and The Invaders.
