8. Lieutenant - November 16, 2009

It says Uhuru instead of Uhura when Zoe is talking about her dress.. Haha! xD It’s funny, though, because that’s actually where Nichelle and Gene got the name from.

#4 Same here!

16. zanzibar (wikiwackywoo on Twitter) - November 16, 2009

Includes a digital copy? On all of the disks? Wow, where no Star Trek film has gone before…at least not legally. And when that gets “into circulation” (if it’s not already) it might have consequences for DVD sales.

Mine’s “on the truck” seems like I ought get it tomorrow. I think I paid a few bucks too much at Amazon.

17. Zack - November 16, 2009

They misspelled “Uhura” as “Uhuru”. AGAIN!!

18. JimJ - November 16, 2009

Warp speed to Wally World at midnight!!!

19. Ian - November 16, 2009

@16 The digital copy is copy protected. The copies are usually linked to an iTunes account, or other movie download service, preventing illegal copies from spreading. iTunes DRM allows one copy to play on 5 total devices; ie computer, iPod, iPhone.

The way you’re all talking, it’s like you’re expecting it to be sold out everywhere at midnight, instantly.

lol

25. davidfuchs - November 16, 2009

I’m sorry, but why must home video releases be full of director ass-kissing? This isn’t a slam at Abrams, just a general observation about the director commentary/special features I’ve seen.

26. Trekluver - November 16, 2009

Hey all you people conserned about them running out can quit fretting. Walmart never runs out and their prices are about as good as they get, even online! That’s where I’m getting mine!

27. Ceti Alpha 5 - November 16, 2009

Awesome.
Still want that a “director’s cut” though.

@25. Maybe they’re “kissing his ass” because he’s a good director and he actually knows what he’s doing.

Yeah I know…CRAZY isn’t it, but the 95% positive reviews
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star_trek_11/
And the box office figures support this fact.

28. VOODOO - November 16, 2009

I noticed it tonight at my local Movie Stop tonight (being sold a few hours early I guess) and grabbed it .

The Blu-ray picture quality is among the best I have ever seen. It’s a truly great transfer.

29. MC1 Doug - November 16, 2009

Paramount doesn’t know how to spell Uhura???? a character from their own franchise, almost 45 years old, and they can’t even get that right??? WTF

30. John - November 16, 2009

@ 17.

That is hilarious! I had to watch the promo again just to check that out. I can’t believe someone has done that again. What is it with Uhura’s name? First Trek VI now this.

I suppose it ain’t really important in the grand cosmic scheme of things… but it does make me chuckle.

31. JimJ - November 17, 2009

It was worth every penny and worth the drive to WalMart.

32. Hat Rick - November 17, 2009

This is truly a STAR Trek. :-)

33. DJT - November 17, 2009

Watching the Blu-ray right now. Love the commentary with Alex, Bob-O, JJ, and the rest.

34. Valar1 - November 17, 2009

Went to the midnight opening at Best Buy here in California. It’s in an upscale neighborhood so I didn’t consider there would be any security problems. There were 10 people in line, they had a big display of Trek right in front, they quickly hustled us out of the store and promptly shut the doors. My wife wanted to check out some computer stuff, they told us they were only letting us in to the front near the movies and to come back tomorrow for the other stuff- yeah, good luck with that. I don’t know how these loons ever make money, reminds me of Circuit City- but they were worse. you had to beg one of their Associates to ring you up. If they didn’t have those cool badges with the Bluray set I wouldn’t have bought the thing. But to whoever reads this- the badges are cool, and worth the extra hassel/money.

re: BB. Ditto.

I also hope someone sends Mr. Shatner a copy of this movie. I really want to hear his take on the movie.

Seeing the movie right now, I can only hope they Shatner-fy Pine just a little bit more in the next movie. Not too much. But just enough. Like that scene in the Jellyfish ship.

36. Holger - November 17, 2009

What?! The DVD and BluRay has been on sale for two weeks over here in Germany.
But I’m not buying, of course.

37. B.C. - November 17, 2009

@Valar1 Were you the folks in Irvine, that mentioned you had seen the movie 10 times in the theater? If so, nice to meet you. :)

38. Banana Cream Pie - November 17, 2009

I bought the blu ray steelbook edition! it was fantastic! its amazing on blu ray! best $30 i ever spend

39. Montreal - November 17, 2009

I just got in from work. Went over to FutureShop to get the Blu ray. They had a big rack of Star Trek discs on display at the front of the store.

40. Michael - November 18, 2009

I got my Target Excl. bluray 3 disc set/ enterprise model today! I was so happy it fit in my mailbox, but was worried it looked munched. But no worry the design of the pkging and the ship are clever. I was so amazed how the ship fit inside and put together ultimately. It’s not very big, so doesn’t take up a great deal of space. The saucer top holds 1 disc, and underside holds the other. The digital copy is alone in a paper sleeve.
I have just began to watch the extras, and JJ clearly cared a GREAT deal when he undertook all that was filmed. I know Bluray is a new expense and adding surround sound, it’s not in reach for everyone. But……the branching extras you regular standard dvd viewers are missing and other featurettes are really in intense. You are losing so much in the unfortuante very bare bones extras that 2 disc dvd version is offering.
There is so much detail chronicaling very facet of production, it’s far beyond any other trek film featurette that’s come before. Well, back to watching more…there’s over 3 hrs, 31 behind the scenes featurettes, commentary, BD live.I’m in GEEK Trek Nirvana Heaven!
ONE QUESTION I HAVE: Since the Target model set doesn’t have the standard box, how does one access the webcam feature to get the 3D digital Enterprise action/firing action to work?

41. Brad - November 19, 2009

@ 40.

Honestly I don’t know about the virtual enterprise thing, but I’m extremely disappointed that they didn’t include a standard box with the Target Exclusive Enterprise edition!!! If I want to let someone borrow my discs, I don’t really want to give them the ship. That’s how stuff gets broken.

42. Michael - November 19, 2009

Ok. Have the Target bluray excl. in hand. The insert had the url to get to the site to access the 3D feature using your webcam. Not sure yet my cut out box will function, but haven’t gotten that far. I allow the site site to load active x on my pc. Then I do a load, it gets to 34% and either stops my internet explorer from working or I get a error #9 code box. I click again, it continies to load, and get the error box again, and or my explorer closes on me.

I’m using windows vista. So haven’t gotten it to load and the cam show to strat running.

Anyone having these issues, or know of patch? When I go to bottom of screen, it say: Sytem requirments. I click on this and it goes to a 1 pg. paramount site that lists countries this feature does or does not work, and USA is NOT there, and it doesn’t list the requirements.

I’m bummed I can’t use my box pkging to see the 3D warp effect, firing weapons, etc.

Any help woulbe be grately appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
