Mine came in yesterday. I ordered the 3 disc Blu-Ray set with Badges from Best Buy. All the extras really helped to bring the movie together. Much better looking on my home theater than at the movies. It was well worth the wait and price.

I noticed while listening to the commentary when JJ says during the Kobiashi (sp)test with Kirk eating the apple, he just kind of stuck that in there with no references in mind/ Well during the Wrath of Khan Kirk is eating an apple with Carol Marcus in the Genesis cavern saying I don't like to loose. That is really awesome how apples are some represented with with Kirk not loosing? I love it!!

Liked everything very much goofy plot holes and all. Loved Erik Bana in Munich but I was lukewarm on him here. Not the best Trek villian though I realize it was not so much Bana's fault but more a script problem.

The secondary hull still pisses me off. It looks so ungainly and unfinished and ruins the beauty of the ship. If they go back and add some "refit" heft to the bottom of the secondary hull this could be the most beautiful E yet!! Also the fact that the pylons go into the mega giant hangar bay ceiling and stop bugs me as well. Must be a strong ceiling!!! I know this biggest of all Enterprises doesn't need the extra secondary hull space (it can fit a friggen beer factory in it-who needs ten forward!) but asthetically it needs a touch up

These are nitpicks really and I am sure the next film will get past these growing pains (especially if they touch up the secondary hull of Galacta-prise)

Lord Garth Gives the film a solid A- when viewed on his 73" DLP

If you listen to the commentary you'll see the filmmakers are very much aware of the plot holes and that many of them were caused by editing decisions. I do think you have to talk about the fact that Delta Vega has to be a sister planet to Vulcan (interesting too that the giant monster there is an aquatic creature that bursts through the ice, like a huge seal)--Vulcan has no moon but it must be part of a double planetary system.
Maybe the toughest thing to swallow is Nero going back for revenge 25 years later--although if Vulcans and Romulans live longer, maybe it seems more like a decade to him. It's funny that the Nero revenge plotline is almost an afterthought in the movie, to the point where they deliberately blur the sound of Nimoy's exposition narrative--it's the overall situation that plays in the film and while we are more likely to want to connect all the dots, the film is still capable of being highly entertaining if you don't. At least to those who liked it! :)

I am enjoying the movie so much more on my HD set at home than I did in the theater -- and that first viewing was in IMAX. I think that experience was sensory overload, between taking in the visuals at that amazing scope, digesting everything storywise, and assessing everything against my nervous expectations. Because of the plot holes, my initial reaction to the Kirk "rebel" back story, and a predisposition to not like a new Enterprise and other design choices that seemed ungainly, I was sour on the movie and did not see it again in a theater. But I did pre-order the Blu-ray (with the insignia pins) and was eager to see it again to give it another chance. Despite some of the story issues, the movie does deliver overall as highly entertaining Star Trek, and as many have said, if it took a "Batman Begins" to make a "Dark Knight," then I am indeed excited by the promise of this cast in the next movies.

Ideally the next movie will not involve Khan or any other familiar nemesis at all, but will involve going back farther in time to save Vulcan -- and the dilemma that the universe they live in and the lives they know might cease to exist in the tradeoff.

I wish we could have had a seamlessly branched version with the option to merge the deleted scenes into the film. At least in some cases, like Nero's Rura Penthe years, it would have patched over some of those plot holes.

On a personal level the funniest part of the movie was having the bridge viewscreen be an actual window, pointed up on video by the interactive ship tour where you can see the bridge through the viewscreen window. Reminded me a lot of first watching Trek as a little boy and wondering if the bridge crew really was looking through a window. That was probably inspired by "Requiem for Methuselah" and Kirk's ability to look in on the bridge after Flint shrank and "froze" the ship.

Is there a single soul on this site, CBS/Paramount that can assist as to WHY I can't access the 3D feature webcam on the webpg? I get a load, directions, my cam doesn't engage, no image appears on screen. I'm very upset I can't access this much antricipated and limited feature.
It was one the many reason I looked forward to the Bluray format and this title and bought a BD player. Anyone????????????????????????

My impression is that the critics _are_ raving for the home video release, but I still haven't shunted to the alt-universe where they raved for the theatrical. Even with its stellar numbers on Rottentomatoes (which it earned, definitely) virtually all of the high-profile reviewers spent a lot of time damning it with faint praise (which is still calling it a good movie, but very different from "raving"). The rave reviews were there, sure, but they were in a very tiny minority. The majority of the reviews were a qualified thumbs-up.

Ok. Have the Target bluray excl. in hand. The insert had the url to get to the site to access the 3D feature using your webcam. Not sure yet my cut out box will function, but haven't gotten that far. I allow the site site to load active x on my pc. Then I do a load, it gets to 34% and either stops my internet explorer from working or I get a error #9 code box. I click again, it continies to load, and get the error box again, and or my explorer closes on me.

I'm using windows vista. So haven't gotten it to load and the cam show to strat running.

Anyone having these issues, or know of patch? When I go to bottom of screen, it say: Sytem requirments. I click on this and it goes to a 1 pg. paramount site that lists countries this feature does or does not work, and USA is NOT there, and it doesn't list the requirements.

I'm bummed I can't use my box pkging to see the 3D warp effect, firing weapons, etc.

Any help woulbe be grately appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am speaking about his film work. LOST is not a film, so that doesn't apply to my question. Film criticism is more of an art form--at least it use to be--than TV criticism and doesn't fit my query.

The movie might work to many emotionally, intellectually as well. My point is, did it have to include all those plot holes, missteps, and wild coincidences along with it?

I guess my criticism of characterization in TREK refers more to the movies, where there is a tendency to wear character moment on their sleeves so-to-speak. This is probably due to limited budgets were character--as well as theme--have to be focused on. Yes, it's a criticism of TREK, but I think it should be noted. Doesn't mean I don't like TREK.

I am on this site because I like TREK. Have always enjoyed the classical storytelling approach of fusing theme, character and plot, and TREK does that very well.

Don't you think taking the "why are you here..." line a little lame?

Yes, I do like the spaceships. lol!
