1. THE WILD MAN OF BORNEO - December 15, 2009

So friggin’ cool!

2. Newman - December 15, 2009

has anyone else noticed that the registration numbers on the ship seem a little messed up?

USS 91888

NCC Noble

I’m sure they will patch that up before launch…

3. CmdrR - December 15, 2009

Death in space is pretty.

4. doug_skywalker - December 15, 2009

Still looks impressive.

and just because i can…

first.

5. COMMANDER KEEN - December 15, 2009

@#2 Newman:

Great catch Newman. I didn’t notice that until I read you post. I hope they do fix it soon. I guess a big “OOOoops!” is in order.

6. Neumann - December 15, 2009

I dig that sleek future ship, it’s got a little Dauntless to it with some JJ style on the top. Can’t say I’m nuts about the nacelles on it, though. Would love to see some more specs of that.

7. John from Cincinnati - December 15, 2009

Sooooooooooooooo when does the xbox 360 version come out???

8. William - December 15, 2009

This is not our fathers’ Star Trek

9. Xeos - December 15, 2009

@Newman

I’m pretty sure you name your own ships in this game.

10. Vulcan Gone Wild - December 15, 2009

Whatever happened to the Prime Directive?

Remember that?

Today’s Trek is shoot first ask questions latter,,,, maybe.

Kids now days sure like things blowing up, and Paramount sure knows it.

11. Jonny Boy - December 15, 2009

Yes, you do. I haven’t seen any issues with the naming of the ships in-game. These screenshots may be from an older build of the Beta.

12. Requiem1971 - December 15, 2009

Its nice to fight the occassional rogue but I never cared for shoot-em-up games where things explode and you can’t go about your way without being attacked. Is that all this game is? Attack or be attacked? Nope, not for me.

13. zirclet - December 15, 2009

Re: the ships registries that some of you mentioned- this (leaving be the shoot ‘em up BS) is the dealbreaker with this game as far as I’m concerned. All the customization is gonna make this entire UNIVERSE ugly and inconsistent. I was initially intrigued by this game, but it’s not for me in the least.

14. Geoffers - December 15, 2009

LOL… no of course.. if people can name their own ships… oh god no.. what has happened to Trek…. (nah I’m not being sarcastic… much!)

15. immortal redshirt - December 15, 2009

anyone else notice the jem hadar ship in the screenshots? cant hate that.

16. Naver Drol - December 15, 2009

@ #12

That is not the case. You have the option of doing exploration. You are not required to engage in player vs player combat. They’ve said as much in other coverage here and on the official game web site.

17. Eli - December 15, 2009

I just want to see more traditional classes included in the initial menu of ship choices. I won’t be completely happy until I can play an Excelsior and a Nebula. At least they have an old-school Constellation class in there to start….

18. USS EXETER - December 15, 2009

Yea saw the Connie, me likey!!

19. rm10019 - December 15, 2009

Very pretty, but I bought a PS3 two years ago so I didn’t have to game on the PC anymore. When are the consoles going to be accomodated?

20. Demode - December 15, 2009

Why is the future so “busy?” From the ship designs to the costume designs, the designs look way to busy to my eyes. With Star Trek, sometimes simplicity is best.

21. The TOS Purist aka The Purolator - December 15, 2009

This should have been a TOS game from the start. They’ve obviously realized what a lame futz-up they made by making it TNG, judging from all the TOS content they’re scrambling to cram into this game at the last minute (Gorn, the Guardian of Forever, TOS Klingons, TOS uniforms, TOS Enterprise…).

22. ryanhuyton - December 15, 2009

It looks like Cryptic has gone all-out with this game. I do hope they make a console version, but I’m not holding my breath. Though I guess it would depend on how many copies they sell for it to be financially and technically feasible to rebuild the game for consoles.

As for the ships and characters, I’m glad they included the Jem’ Hadar. I wonder if players involved in ship to ship combat with these guys should worry about kamikaze attacks taking out a lot of their ships. I can’t help but think if you have to retrieve an important person, say a commanding officer, in a distant part of space and find your ship(say, a Galaxy Class vessel) badly damaged in battle struggling to get the hell out of there. Just as you are leaving, a Jem’Hadar ship heads straight for your ship….

23. Rastaman - December 15, 2009

Wow, this looks impressive. Might actually sign-up for Xbox Live for this.

24. NX-2000 - December 15, 2009

21 – Yeah, the costume designs seem so widely varied. It seems like Starfleet of the 25th century might be the incarnation of the service with the greatest number of variants being used simultaneously. It could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on whether you like seeing so many different Starfleet uniforms all at once.

25. Zebonka - December 15, 2009

It’s nice to see a GOOD looking ship in the screenshots – y’all know which one I’m talking about!

26. Sean - December 16, 2009

Pretty cool items in the Deluxe Digital CE. I’ve been wondering which one to get. I’ll probably get this one.

27. Dunsel Report - December 16, 2009

#21 Yeah, the marketing for it suggests they made a mistake by doubling down on the DS9/Rick Berman Trek world.

28. DC - December 16, 2009

The TOS uniforms in the digital version just made picking a version a whole lot harder. On one hand, GameStop has the TOS Enterprise but the one has the uniforms which would go PERFECT with it and are equally iconic of the original serious……grrrr…..if only they had a TOS edition with the ship AND the uniforms, and maybe some other fun TOS stuff……

29. Olley Olley Olley - December 16, 2009

the voice acting in that video sucks ass

30. Olley Olley Olley - December 16, 2009

19
never!
if Blizzard can resist releasing the behemoth that is World of Warcraft onto consoles, I cant see other MMORPG dumbing down their games for dumbed down consoles for dumbed down players

31. Eli - December 16, 2009

If you buy the Best of TOS or the Best of TNG DVD volume 2 in the United States you get a Star Trek online code to give your main character a Wrath of Khan Uniform. That’s what I’ll be playing in. I think I’ll pick up my copy of the game at Target, which I think comes with an in-game pet tribble. :-)

32. 4 8 15 16 23 42 - December 16, 2009

Finally, I start to see some ship designs I actually like in this game… that Prometheus style ship is alright….

33. doug_skywalker - December 16, 2009

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks that having to choose between the edition with the TOS uni’s or the TOS Enterprise is a little backwards.

i’d gladly trade my Wrath of Khan uniform code for the TOS uniform code…

34. 4 8 15 16 23 42 - December 16, 2009

… Not Prometheus…. can’t seem to find the class, maybe Phoenix class — anyway, 21st pic down…

35. George - December 16, 2009

Wow. There are some ugly ships in those pictures. Still looks like a pretty good game though.

36. doug_skywalker - December 17, 2009

i also gotta wonder if at some point the ‘exclusives’ will be all released down the line so that everyone can enjoy them…

37. skyjedi - December 18, 2009

Will there be a new starship enterprise in this game and a new crew? Like a refit of the E or will there be an F,lol. You know as Picard said there are plenty more letters in the alphabet.

How many years after nemesis is this?

This is how the new movie should have been do a future story, kirk and spock already seen it. Have a darker take and have the universe go to war like in the new galactica.

38. skyjedi - December 18, 2009

I also hope you get to play as a constitution class ship that looks like the refit enterprise from 1979, or is there a way for fans of the new movie to play as the revamped tos enterprise from 2009?

39. StarArmy Space Roleplay - January 20, 2010

Sky jedi, the refit enterprise is available as a Tier 2 cruiser.
