Am I the only guy who really liked the engineering scenes — especially the flurry of movement and everybody jammed in there. I didn’t totally buy that It was on a star ship, but I probably believed it a lot more than I did the TNG engineering sets. It felt right. The Rest of the ship itself felt kind of flat — the bridge and single corridor and everything else were all right beside each other (and I get that part of that was due to the cool “look how fast the turbolift is” switcheroo shot, which was rad) and not a multiple-decked starship… I’d like to see more of it in the next one.

#65 HA! Maybe get William Shatner to say that as the opening monologue for the t.v airing of the movie. It would be appropriate on two fronts: a) he was (and always will be Captain Kirk and b) more importantly, he did an “I am Canadian!” ad for Molson beer a few years ago.

That’s only because we couldn’t decide what the bridge looked the most like, an Apple store or a hair salon.

Sure as hell doesn’t look like the bridge of a starship.

Agree with it or not, one buzzword I was totally expecting to be recognized here was: “iBridge.” I recall that being one of the first to be bandied about, even long after the first shots of the Bridge design was revealed.

@59 I think you are ranting and raving, but I am not sure.

I also think you forget that we all like those 10 previous movies as well… we just aren’t total babies over a new, (and completely plausible within the star trek universe), chapter. It’s over, it’s done with, so you should just take a deep breath and unclench before you pop some blood vessels in your eye.

Sorry, ST09 is still Insurrection to me. Anyone remember how abbreviating dates “threatened the world” with a millennium bug? What’s the next movie going to be – ST12 ? We’ll just throw out sensibility this one time and then try to bring it back. Let’s call the next one ST2, huh? How about that? Try to completely erase Khan’s movie all together, why dontcha?

I really think this movie was STXI. They want to reinvent Star Trek, fine. But there were 10 other movies before. Live with it.
