Seriously, my view on the feud is similar to that of Tony.

Bill has said in his Web Site forum that some TOS cast actors had one line in a whole episode, and he had four pages. So they thought he stole the spot light. Well, I doubt that was the cause of resentment towards Bill. Rather IMHO, the reason behind the opinion is that Bill stepped out of his area at the time, being a bit aloof sometimes, and being fuzz on profession rank. And he did not aware of such behaviour. If my speculation is true, one cannot help wonder how come such opinion is still in effect after decades. Perhaps, it is so strong that there are people who cannot get over it.

Up till now, I am still a fan of Bill. That has not changed a bit.

Takei: So, what is it?

Shatner: Easy, you will know soon. (Shatner drawed out a phase-like object and pointed it at Takei)

Takei: I should have known. (Being nervous)

Shatner: Too late, George. (Two security men came out from the curtain behind, and guarded Takei at each side of him) You will have a lot time to grunt your dissatisfaction of me behind bars. Take him to the brig.

Takei: ah … (About to struggle, but the two security men moved towards Shatner).

Shatner: Not me! I mean take George to the brig. (Bewildered)

The two security men then almost lifted George away by each of his arms. And the show of that night ended with a cap by Bill, saying “That is the end of our feud. And that will be all for the show of tonight. Thanks for watching”.

From what I gather Mr. Shatner was a talented actor in TOS who got on just about everyone’s nerves by the way he asserted himself. His co-stars’ complaints were more relevant back then, but letting them go now must be difficult because it would seem like condoning Shatner’s behavior as something for which no apology is in order anymore. Maybe Mr. Takei didn’t intend to invite Shatner to his wedding, but later on realized that such an invitation had gotten sent somehow. My sympathies are biased towards Mr. Takei’s apparent point of view. When I first saw some short clips of Takei speaking on the subject, he didn’t come off sounding that conciliatory, but maybe he wants Shatner to be held to account.

#114 You obviously didn’t read or understand what I wrote. I said that the Kirk he would be playing in the next movie if he is included would not be the same Kirk we saw during the Original Series and movies.He would be most likely playing a retired captain. Yes, he may have dropped weight for TMP, but he was playing the captain of the Enterprise. Kirk was in his prime. It stands to reason then that William Shatner would be in the best shape possible. As for only thinking of money, I never mentioned money, and about being pompous, all I can say is when you point a finger, there’s three more pointing back at you.
You made his weight an issue, not me.

And oh yeah, I wonder if you happened to run into William Shatner that you would tell him to “drop fifty”. Probably not, because he would kick your ass even at age 80.

I think shatner has already seen the movie…he is just playing us all. If he has not seen the movie….I dont want to say anything because it would not be nice.

#110 ryanhuyton – So what if he’s going to be 80 in two years . The Shat looks great and even better with the ” DO ” he has had over the past few years . Seems like your taking this way too personal . All was suggested for him to be in the next TREK was to drop at least 50 , don’t be so pompous and don’t only think of money . He dropped the weight for a little movie once before called STTMP ……remember ? You’re suggesting becausing he’s almost 80 it shouldn’t matter …………. that’s all the reason it should.

During a fairly recent event to roast Shatner, Takei took the opportunity to express his anger with him. He reopened old scars, which should have healed over the last 40 years. After Takei had joined the Howard Stern Show (and came out on the show), he declared that he was getting married. Since Takei invited everyone else from the “Star Trek” series, Shatner took it as if the man was still carrying a grudge. After Takie returned from his honeymoon, he addressed the issue on the Howard Stern Show. Takei admitted he was still carrying the grudge, and then proceeded to blamed Shatner for his own failure.

Come to think about it – If what some of you are saying is true, this whole thing could be a stint to keep them both in the spotlight.

I don’t think anyone could actually tell you what is real and not real. Its a nice little mess they got into, and the other cast members have expressed their disappointment in both of them.

Maybe the cast members are right.
