Hmm, one tangential possibility is that both Kirk and Spock could easily be alive long into their 80s in the ‘new’ universe. That would be a mind-blower, to see the ‘young’ Spock and Kirk meet their ‘old’ selfs from a century hence. Throw in Patrick Stewart and the Enterprise D crew and the fans would drool.

It’ll never happen, because it would be a ‘fannish’ movie instead of a ‘tentpole’ movie, but it’s nice to dream…

I agree JolieCat it would be cool to have Spock Prime back oh and to have Shatner would be amazing. I just don’t think they had a proper goodbye. Really Jim Kirk gets killed off and we just don’t have any closure…between Spock and him…it just doesn’t seem fair. I know it’s time to pass the baton to the young guys but i can’t dismiss the original cast members. Let’s give them some breathing room and pray that everything will turn out right…………….

I love Leonard, and have since I was 13. Everybody in the ST world just gets better with age. I really wish they hadn’t killed off Kirk. There must be a way to bring him back. Nobody (at least none of the main characters) should be completely annihilated; they all have too much to offer. Even if their physical form dies, there should be a way to have them around.

Leonard Nimoy is a class act and I love Shatner too. They’re like yin and yang, and complement each other beautifully. They should be in the next movie if the writers can make it work.

Mr Nimoy is not needed for the new film….. however he IS needed along with Mr Shatner to appear in once last GRAND send off together on a two-part spin off TV-movie!

They’re both nearing 80, and are still sharp and very much in their prime – it would be so cool to see them reunited together for one last grand voyage free from any ‘cameo’s’ in someone elses film – never bought the Kirk in Generations/Nexus as ‘our’ kirk – perhaps Spock finds the real one by happinstance/antropy. One last voyage perhaps with a nostalgic return to the Guardian of Forever would be awsome…..

…. DAMN! I have just woken up :(

It would have been good, but not as good. By being in it, Leonard Nimoy was basically endorsing it, and I think that gave the cast a little more confidence than they might have had otherwise. That said, I don’t think he NEEDS to be in the sequel. It would be nice…but I’m going to leave that to JJ and Bob and Alex. I’ll be seeing it either way, personally.
