Remake seems to be done too much these days

You ought to see if you could get that band from THE DISH to perform the theme.

Sorry for the repeat, did not mean to offend but when I hear the suggestions that everyone wants they seem a bit limited in the scope of what Star Trek can really be in my opinion.

Yes Bob might make it work but would you rather have Khan redone or do something different.

The last two movies have drawn on Wrath of Khan, so I now think they should go a different route. You all might bitch about Insurrection but at least it did something different than the Earth is thhreatened. Maybe a revisit of a film with a theme would be nice

Wrath of khan and First Contact are action movies but the themes they present are what make those stories great. the arc about Kirk feeling depressed about being 52 and feeling the best days were behind him was a great arc for the character. The Vegenance arc made Picard’s character compelling in the movie.

There is so many more themes and it is because of these that Wrath off Khan and First Contact, and most definitly with the Undiscovered Country that makes these films stronger than the new movie in my opinion.

If you want a great movie next time you need to go back to these themes.

Star Trek is about something, there is an idea behind it and that is the beauty of sci fi. What I am saying that even when Star Trek had an action movie these always a little bit more to it. This is more important than rehashing all the great stuff into a Star Wars style pop corn movie.

Either way I am looking forward to the next movie, but if Khan is all they can think about then there is not going to be much hope for new ideas.

As for new versus familiar, why can’t it be both? Why does it have to be either/or? If Bob can write a unique story featuring a classic villain with a new spin, then I’m all for it.

If you do a rebooted TOS on TV with a new crew, then you have to recast them yet again. And if you don’t do a reboot what are you going to do? Yet another variation of the TOS theme? I’m not for that either.

That’s why I’ve argued for shows set in the Star Trek universe rather than constantly redoing TOS in a slightly different flavor.

Wouldn’t it be cool to see the backstory of Khan on TV with a 24 type political intrigue flavor to it, and after that’s been on TV for a couple seasons to THEN tie that into his reappearance in the future to face Kirk and Co. in a big screen movie?
