They slightly converted the stardate in JJ's Star Trek to reflect the calendar date and the time of day in the stardate somehow if I remember correctly...

On the off chance that Bob Orci is reading this: how exactly does stardate 2230.06 (which also appears in the deleted scene) fit into the stated rule that the decimal starts at .1 as the first day of the year? The zero doesn't seem to be merely a placeholder (= .6), since .006 would make more sense if the count goes up to .365 or .366.

Was the decimal supposed to represent the elapsed fraction of the year originally, before it was revised to become the day of the year?

>>>>Regarding the John Byrne Romulans collection: How in the world do you adapt a 50 minute television episode in only 12 pages? Sounds like it would only be a summary of the ep at best.

it's essentially told from the viewpoint of the Romulans only, using almost all the episode dialogue verbatim...

no Kirk (or even the Enterprise for that matter) until the final panels...

I think Mr. Helmsworth would have made an even better Kirk than Mr. Pine. At the very least, he looks more like Shatner.

Is it me or does Sarek look surprisingly more like Nimoy as Spock rather than the new Sarek?

4. Toonloon

here's some photos of the communicator (scroll down):
http://startrekpropauthority.blogspot.com/2009/06/abrams-star-trek-xi-uss-kelvin.html

To me it looks bad. Most of the things in the new movie look just great, but not the props :( They don't work for me at all.

Besides, it would've made much more sense, had they utilised and modernised "The Cage" transparent communicator:

If you watch the part in the movie when Kirk's mom is talking to George on her way off the ship, she is using a TOS style communicator. Pretty cool.
