Drex sez the saucer deflector was retained in case there’s a problem with the new warp core or if the engineering section has to be jetisoned. The saucer still has the original warp core and the plasma conduits to the nacelles, so if the worst happened, the ship could still function in more or less its original configuration. The engineering section as envisioned in the NX-01 refit is still experimental.

I agree it should have more Star Trek and the movie images from 1-6. The classic still works, still sells and is a lot more popular than the TNG era series.

It’s not “TOS heavy” enough. If it were up to me, I’d like to see the whole damn calender be TOS-themed; this one only has three TOS pages, so I’m not going to buy it this time around.

Plus, one of the TOS sheets features glowing warp nacelles…and that just ain’t right.

I don’t understand the point of the refit NX-01.

We saw the ship didn’t look any different at the end of the series when it was to be retired. It looks like the author just decided that because he didn’t like the episode he was going to ignore it.

That’s the point. If Trek 2009 had been a one time only movie, nobody would be bitching about it for that long. But it gets a sequel, done by the SAME people. The bitching won’t stop until they deliver a movie that satisfies those who hated the first one, or if they leave.

I don’t think we’re bitter. I think we’re mostly bringing up the flaws with the last movie so they don’t reappear in the sequel. If something needs improving, we’re gonna point it out to the rest of you. You know, kinda like the mother-in-laws of Trek fandom. ;)

#69: Engineering DID look like a brewery, and it was ridiculous.

Fortunately, I’ve always thought the occasional goofy interior set is a Star Trek tradition, and the movie was great.
